Re: Why no US special forces?
I will take much more time when I get time to look into this but it APPEARS if we end LRP ( now named LRRP ) to end 12/1968 then make the ranger formations after Korea to start January 1969 instead of Jan 1974 this fixes the problem ( that and push the LRRP start date back a bit.. MAYBE 1/63 )

Re: Why no US special forces?
The "FIX" is simple for the formations ( 4 ADJUSTMENTS )
But the UNITS used require adjusting as well and that will require more care and double checking for "collateral damage" issues

Re: Why no US special forces?
I have this fixed now.
LRRP formations and the units used now run 1/63- 12/68
Rangers ( Post Korea ) now start 1/69 instead of 1/74 and that required a number of unit start dates changed as well ( after weapons availability checks ).
This corrects an error 2 decades old but there is better, more precise info now than 20 years ago

I play a lot of Vietnam stuff so appreciate the adds, though lately it has mostly been either early with the French or later with the South Vietnamese. The reason I ask about Green Beret is because they had a lot to do with the special forces of the South and I was wondering why they weren't around.

Re: Why no US special forces?
If you DO NOT PBEM
AND **IF** You are comfortable using MOBHack
******** LRRP
Change formation 007 , 038 and 253
Start date 1/63
End Date 12/68
Rename LRP to LRRP
UNIT 443 name LRRP Patrol
Start date 1/63
End Date 12/68
Change Experience and Morale modifiers to 12
================================================== =======================
************ Rangers
Ranger Pl Formation 65 and 87 Ranger Co
Start date 1/69
UNIT 167 Ranger Squad
Start date 1/69
UNIT 426 Ranger Patrol
Start date 1/69
UNIT 969 Ranger LAW Team
Start date 1/69
If you want "Green Berets" rename them in the game when you set up a battle. I know they are not the exact same in RL but they would be set up the same in the game
If you do PBEM ignore all that.....

Re: Why no US special forces?
I just happened to be doing some research on the Rangers and got a nice tome covering 1942-1987. I can provide some info if needed.

Re: Why no US special forces?
From the Revolutionary War to the Present from the only source that matters the U.S. Army. And they were in Korea as companies attached to regular Army Regiments. This isn't long and might modify a couple of things but also validate others.
Never play USA without a Ranger unit. And currently we have a Retired Major from the Rangers working with us seems like a good guy and he certainly " can have my back anytime."
