Actually, I'm talking about avoided death entirely - One was named Enoch; he's listed in the Genesis lineages - Genesis 5:24 "Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away." (NIV) Some would say that it was a euphamisim for death, but that doesn't fit with the rest of the listings; the rest all use "and then he died." The other was one of the prophets - Elijah, I think it was.

Literally his punishment was that he was 'marked' in some way. God also said that no one was to kill Cain, because God would come down on them even harder. But it does not list Cain's death, I don't think it lists the deaths of anyone outside the Adam-Seth lineage.

Next we will see headlines that some sharks eats some kids replaying what they saw on TV.

Plain silly
Kids can't win Darwin Awards. It's in the rules.

Swimming with sharks seems possible. I saw one scientist (also in National Geographic) that showed what shark need to bite people according to him. He says they need smell, sound and sight to attack.
So he threw food to bullsharks and went into the water. Now, he says, you see i'm not bitten because they only smell the food but i don't look like it nor do i make sound.
He's surrounded by some 6 or 7 bullsharks at that time. He then proceeds to swim so 2 out of the 3 "needs" are fulfilled. Still he's not attacked since the water there is clear and the sharks see that he isn't prey. He was only bitten once: he did the same as described above but in murky water.
He might have a point. Anyway, some sharks like the white shark are very curious so they tend to bite surfers because of this: recent investigation show that sharks do not attack surfers because they look like prey but just because the shark is curious. But unfortunately for us, a small "nosy" bite of a shark can already provide leathal injuries for us.
But still little accidents happen and they are an encridble species.

I once did some research for a science project way back when i was still in school and they found giant fossile shark teeth. Some sharks must have been the size of whales back then!!!

IIRC Kain also avoided death. His punishment of killing his brother was to live forever. I might be wrong, though.

I remember seeing a special where some gutsy scientist decided to prove that, as predators, sharks were essentially cowards. So he goes down to the bottom in a cage, with some stuff, and proceeds with the experiment.

First they put out the dummy, It looks like a scuba diver. Sure enough, along comes a BIG shark and circles the dummy. It comes in for a bite, then circles a couple more times. Satisfied that the dummy does not pose a threat, it grabs the dummy and swims off with some fraction of the mannequin hanging out of it's mouth.

Next the guy puts out a remote controlled thing meant for poking around with a camera. Along comes another shark with a funny idea of what is edible. It circles a few times, getting closer and closer. Then the guys moves the thing in the direction of the shark, threatening... kind of. Well the shark clearly feels that this is threatening because it backs off. But it does keep circling. So the guy drives it directly after the shark somewhat persistently. After being chased around for a second the shark bugs off.

Next the guy gets out of the cage. He holds real still and waits for a buzzard. Sure enough, along comes another sizable and relatively open-minded shark. It circles a couple times and the guy starts swimming toward it. He does so with some flair and the shark leaves.

So the guy hangs out there, no doubt basking in the glory of his verification. Along comes another shark, and another shark. So there are now two, awfully large sharks making the orbit. Dude is ready, sort of, for this and gets an honest-to-whatever ten foot pole. He uses this to threaten the sharks from a distance and is quite able to keep them at bay. Polearms rule for anyone who hasn't had the chance to use them.

Eventually the sea has to win, though, so along comes a third big shark. Man of Science has had enough, is proven, sort of, and heads back up to the boat.

Everything was big way back when. A couple nights back there was a program on the Discovery Channel about a Plesiosaur recently discovered that was large and powerful enough to clamp down on an unsuspecting T-Rex and pull it into the sea.

Why can't we have sea creatures like this today? Sea travel would be much more adventurous. You could wake up one morning and read about the American Submarine that had a bite taken out of it by a monsterous shark.

*sigh* Oh well. I guess we have to make due with Giant Squids.

once again Katchoo gives the guy who pretends to be a giant mouse and run around wacking people with hammers reason to doubt his sanity.
