Default Re: Do You Ever Get Tired Of Playing SEIV?

I'm a lot like rdouglass when it comes to SEIV. But until very recently I had never tried PBW. The only trouble with that is that, so far, I find it grindingly slow.

Right now, I'm about to win another single player game, using the TDM Modpack. I've just eliminated the Ukra Tal by surrender, and have stolen another three or four systems from the Terrans. The writing is on the wall now...
When I finish this game I will let single player mode rest for a while, and just play on PBW (which it seems will much less time consuming).

I don't have a large collection of these sort of games, but I do occasionally go through my CDs and fish out "Outpost" (Sierra). There's something about that one that still appeals to me, as old as it is.

Back in September, I was getting pretty burned out. I was playing one PBW game, and that was it.

Then my computer died, and I couldn't afford to replace it for three months. After the forced "vacation", SE IV was the first game I installed on the new computer.

Now I'm in the endgame of a solo game where I've been MEE since turn 100, long ago hit the units limit, and am about to hit the ships limit. This is the first time I've accomplished the latter two.

Yeah, SEIV is one of those rare games that I don't even bother uninstalling when I get bored with it because I know I'll just have to re-install it a few weeks down the line. I think it's pretty much become an extension of my OS at this point. My computer would probably explode if I tried to uninstall it.

Getting tired of playing SEIV is like getting tired of eating chocolate. You know even before you've swallowed the Last bite that it can't possibly Last.
GOOD GOD! It has bee a long time since I have seen a post from you VoidHawk.

It is uncanny how so many of us have simular game interests at our core, but the further you get out the more we differ.

SEIV is the core, then Gal Civ, possibly a Civ game, then from there the divergance begins, I like the occational FPS, but prefer the solice of SimCity or a good Flag capture game like Tribes.

I think at heart we all just love to create things, and these games give us that chance. So if you think about it like that, *dukes* we are all god wanna be's. *runs and hides*

Didn't get burned out on SEIV, though I've been playing Civ3 and other games more. I'm waiting for the next patch that was mentioned Last month or so before I restart more SEIV games.

Hopefully, it won't be too much longer before that comes out.

Yes I got tired of playing it but in truth my attention span for anything is about 3 weeks. Combine that with bein unable to save in the middle of a long 1 hour turn (I play slow. I'm not as fast as some of you.)

So I play Empire Deluxe Internet Edition. A game without as much deapth but lots of fun anyway. the next Version will have as much more deapth and the ability to program the AI. It should be a lot more dynamic.

Hehe. I fancy myself the strong, silent type (the latter moreso than the former). But I'm around more often than any of the regulars would probably be comfortable with, so I'll just keep the specifics a secret.

Isn't my supreme lurkness just the creepiest thing ever?!

Way ahead of you, my friend. I'm currently working around the clock on new, soon-to-be-patented Klingon Lurking Device technology that, if my theories prove correct, will allow me to post without de-lurking.

Be very, very afraid.
