Well, actually I never really care much about conquering the galaxy, I play for the roleplaying and political aspects. They're much more fascinating to me. Otherwise, the game really does seem like just an "extremely complex spreadsheet" as someone once said. It's the interaction and the roleplayong that make it interesting for me. So, I stick by my earlier comments: my empires all reflect my personality in games - I take a very non-zero-sum, cooperative approach....of course, I have never "won" a PBW game yet, but that ain't a surprise...

Yea... standard disclaimer Of course, it's only me - the player - who wants to conquer the galaxy.

First Speaker Roanon of the Primeval Collective is just so compassionate that he wants to give the benefit of his wise rulership to planets whose current leaders obviously lack such a wisdom. Otherwise, he is a nice chap and good neighbor, of course....

In the affairs of sentient creatures, there inevitably comes a time when they must chose action or honor.

The Aether Lords have never sought out conflict or expansion except to defend themselves, but such a time is now upon the Aether Lords, and we will choose the path of honor, not inaction.

We Aether Lords originally came from Earth and we have long pledged ourselves to her defense should she come under attack once again. This has happened, and worse.

The Primeval Collective have committed a wide variety of crimes, chief amongst them being their treacherous breaking of their words in their devastating surprise attack upon Earth, in which they murdered not only billions of Earth citizens, but at least 50 million Aether pilgrims as well --- pilgrims who had returned to the place of humanity's origins.

We regard both of these actions --- the breaking of their word and their attack upon the Federated Worlds --- to be evil.

But the Primeval have also:
· Engaged in numerous intel operations against their " allies" for many months now
· Manipulated the human alliance into wars first with the Narn, then with the Mar-Zen so they could expand at their expense
· Devastated and destroyed other peaceful peoples as well as openly admitting their intention to conquer the quadrant entirely

If left unchecked the Primeval will eventually conquer all the sentient species in the quadrant. We call upon ALL sentient species in the NGC4 quadrant to join us to rid the world of the evil that is the Primeval Collective. While we have no desire for conquest of Primeval worlds, those who help us can most certainly avail themselves of that booty.

Though the Primeval are powerful, together we will prevail. It may be tough, but it is better to trod a hard road than to sit idly by while one is conquered beneath the tentacles of a species such as the Primeval.

The Aether fight for honor and freedom, and we call upon you all to assist us to ensure your own freedom. Because if we do not stop them now, they will come for you too, eventually.

We earlier asked for aid in our fight against the Hegemony of the Primeval collective.

It is our pleasure to release the first of our battle reports: we have discovered that Primeval warships have zero, count them, zero, defenses against fighters. A single force of 54 fighters of ours destroyed around 10 battleships of theirs, in addition to numerous other victories. This is encouraging, and we urge all sentient races who beleive in thier own soveriegnty to exploit it as they see fit. (this is a vulnerability the Primeval will try to correct, of course)

We will avenge the second destruction of Earth. And we will refuse to bow down to Primeval control of the Quadrant! Arise, all ye races who would be free to choose your own destiny!

EDIT: it appears that there is a bug that caused the Primeval warships to not fire back. This needs to be looked into - they did have the ability to fire back, but they did not for reasons as yet unknown.

Well, this conflict is not simply between Aether and Primeval, but since it resulted from a treacherous attack upon Earth by Primeval, Earth, Aether, and Primeval are involved. There are others, but I will not speak for them.

We respect your decision, our vessels will not intrude upon Tyrellian space...we only hope that your neutrality does not result in your eventual subjugation by the Primeval, although we fear exactly that. May your people prosper...but not under Primeval domination!

And, we would like to reiterate that because we were forced into this conflict by the treachery and machinations of the Primeval, we have no ambitions on any systems or planets of theirs. As far as we're concerned, we stand to gain nothing from this but our survival and the survival of our allies. If others desired certain planets and "booty" from conquest of Primeval worlds, we feel that they should pursue those goals and we wholeheartedly support that, as the Primeval have engaged in base treachery...

So the foolish biological species finally realise the threat that is the Primeval. We calculate that it is too late for you too survive. The fate of the galaxy is cast.

The Amon'Krie answers the calls of its allies, and shall deploy its armada against the foe. One thousand warships are currently heading for the systems controlled by the Collective; there is no hope left for the galaxy but a swift defeat of their hegemony, whose roots are treachery and base cunning.

To all neutral Empires, we do ask you to assist the war effort to the best of your abilities. As we are speaking, our traders came back from the Collective worlds with 25% more minerals than two months ago, which means the Collective is now producing several hundred thousand more minerals than two months before. If their production is increasing by one million every two or three months, no Empire will be able to stand against them in a short time, either alone or in a powerful alliance.

As such, the Continuum is declaring war upon the Collective as we are speaking. Betrayal heralds the end of all Empires, as demonstrated by the slaughter of the infamous Narn Regime. Lesson has taught us that an alliance powerful enough is all that is needed to bring down a treacherous hegemony; we are reading ourselves to repeat this lesson.

Check the game forums. No defenses for example just means "not fired back because of some dubious bug exploit". I consider quitting this game if there is no full explanation of what has happend.

Betrayal heralds the end of all Empires, as demonstrated by the slaughter of the infamous Narn Regime.

The Narn were betrayed by none but themselves. The war with the Narn began with their own treachery and a sneak attack on our peaceful people, and their fate was sealed by this action.

Our people can accept a great many things, but an attack without provocation is not one of them, and they rallied magnificently. It was this that led to the destruction of the Narn - who were more than twice as large and powerful as our people at the beginning of hostilities.

Do not fool yourselves with any illusions as to the 'nobility' of the Narn.
