Re: Enslave Mind and Mind Lords
Now I understand pretenders are immune to charm. Can they be enslaved?

Hmmmm. Just had to load up Aquarium to look at all my Enslaved Kings of the Deep. You're right, not Mindless. For some reason I thought they were, because of how Enslave actually works.
And Pretenders are immune to all forms of enemy control. If you want a Cyclops, you gotta Wish for it. :P

GOR should give you their paths back, unless I'm very mistaken about how GOR works.

Re: Enslave Mind and Mind Lords
Gift of Reason restores commander status. If the unit has magic or priest levels of any kind, then the unit will still have them but they will be hidden. Once you cast GOR on them the magic levels are restored in full.
The only exception to this are prophets. If you restore a prophet to commander status they will no longer have their priest levels from prophet status. They will however still be blessed and will still count as one walking temple. The unit will also still reap the statistical benefits of being in your dominion and the penalty of being outside it.

OT: am I the only one that finds the Aboleths almost as creepy, if not creepier, than MA and LA Ryleh? To me, when compared to the other two, they give this feeling of "long past past" (as in, the supercontinent Pangaea to us)

Yes me too, Poopsi. They're crazy old, crazy weird, and-in my opinion-the most purely evil of all the nations.

Re: Enslave Mind and Mind Lords
Well especially if you know the old D&D Aboleths..... They have these sacs in their heads, and when they kill powerful/wise/knowledgeable beings..... They remove the brains, and push them up in these sacs, absorbing the mind of their prey.
It's pretty hideous. There should be a contest for "most evil" though, cause I think Lanka, R'lyeh, Ermor, and Hinnom would like to compete for the title.

Re: Enslave Mind and Mind Lords
We had an 'evilest nations' contest, but like Sauromatia or something won.
Aboleths are pretty bad though-they're natural born slaveholders, they send their children to war as a matter of course, and they regularly use lobotomy as a tool of government control.
That's pretty deeply amoral.

Re: Enslave Mind and Mind Lords
I think he more specifically meant Polypal Spawns. It's hard to say where an Aboleth reaches maturity, they seem to kind of evolve to more complex forms at various stages in their life. But as Polyps, we can definitively call them "children" still, and there's no room for debate. Beyond that, it's a mystery to human scholars.
