Re: File uploading is broken !
BTW, in case anyone was curious, we are moving ISP's in about a month. I just now configuring our new Windows 2003 boxes. It should be a NICE upgrade for the site as far as speed and reliablity. After all the current site is running on IIS 4 on NT 4.

Re: File uploading is broken !
Is there going to be a new forum with a better forum software?

Re: File uploading is broken !
No, the current software runs just fine. It was never designed to do file uploads, we hacked it to do that. So we may come up with something seperate for that.
Unless you want to pay for the upgrade .

Re: File uploading is broken !
There are at least 20 free forum software packages out there that work really well and that do not suffer from the problems inherent in UBB.

Re: File uploading is broken !
Richard, you should come by the #se4 IRC channel on Gamesnet. You have no excuse to never come by.

Re: File uploading is broken !
What advantages does UBB have? All I have seen are disadvantages...
phpBB is not a resource hog... What evidence do you have backing this claim?

Re: File uploading is broken !
Fyron, why does he need to give you evidence? Richard does website admin and information technology for a living. You on the other hand have been doing websites for all of 42 minutes in between classes and dealing with acne breakouts. You have consistantly harrased him on every occasion and in several different threads on this forum about gettign rid of the UBB forum. He has no intention of doing it any time soon, and if he does it's not going to be because you come up with some idea he hasn't ever heard of, cause most likely there aren't any. He's too nice to tell you this himself so I will. Drop it.

Re: File uploading is broken !
Fyron,
Richard administers UBB, and I remember reading a post he made in the past where he mentioned that he has administered PHPBB in the past, although I could be mistaken. This would put him in a very believable position for judging which is more resource intensive. He has the voice of experience in the matter. Unless I see a credible source demonstrating otherwise, when he says PHPbb is a resource hog, I'm inclined to believe him. He could likely stand in a court of law as an expert in the field at this time.
Your profile lists your occupation as a student, and your birthdate puts you in your senior year at high school, or your freshman (perhaps sophmore) year at college (ignoring the very real possibility of skipped grades). This puts you in a less believeable position for judging the matter. It is likely you could not stand in a court of law as an expert in the field at this time.
Yet you contradict Richard and request evidence of his statements in a field of his expertise, apparently listing no evidence of your own position. That strikes me as a bit odd. Do you have some evidence or source you aren't mentioning, or are you going on personal belief?
