Do you have "WinUAE" loaded on a PC? This is an Amiga Simulator and should have "CrossDos" on it. Load or read the disk that way. No need for the 500 then

http://www.winuae.net

Another possibility see http://cloanto.com/kb/3-118.html

Should we talk to MM to get an SEIV Amiga port. That would be Awesome! I could have twice as many people playing SEIV

yep, i'm using winuae. did a search in the dir and didn't find any crossdos, though.
did a bunch of stuff today, so no time for emulation.

I'm pretty sure you won't get any PC (even one emulating an amiga) to read or write an amiga-formatted floppy. The floppy drives are different.

There was a cool bit of software I used to use from aminet, I can;t remember what it's called, but you used to be able to plug a PC and an amiga together using serial/parallel, and then all the PC's drives became available to the amiga as local drives. Maybe a similar trick could be done in reverse, so that the PC can "remote control" the Amiga's drives.

Narf, I know that. I just thought that if you were to remote-control the Amiga from the PC, you'd be able to use some PC software to extract the data, which would be an advantage seeing as how hard it is to find amiga expertise these days.

I have an Amiga 2000, and probably at least a hundred disks of .gifs (mostly of naked ladies) and probably at 50 disk of mod files. I just want my pc to read the disk, recognized that there are files on the disk, and transfer them to my computer. My Amiga still works as far as I know, but the keyboard was messed up by my niece and nephew. Is there something that will let me do this?

oh, sorry. i hate repetitions. i don't know if i was rude there, but if i was, well, that's why i posted sorry.

i tend to get precise and polite before blowing up - the more precise and polite, the closer i am to blowing up. i reeeally hate repetitions. anyway, i should get around to finding an amiga forum, eh? just been busy. today, i helped someone move. i think i'm going to post some tips i've accumulated about moving. no, this one was easy.

Greg: Several possibilities-

-Get that software Narf is using, which seems to allow PCs to read ami disks.
-I seem to remember some kind of "virtual keyboard" tool for the amiga, which allowed you to "type" using the mouse. It's probably a standard part of your workbench setup (look on the "extra" disks.)
-I have an a4000 keyboard I'm not using. I'm 90% sure it would work on your machine. I could loan/ sell it to you.
-Send me all your disks full of naked ladies and I'll burn them all to CD for you. I'll also keep a backup CD for you (in case yours ever gets damaged) at no cost ;-)
-Get onto ebay and pick up an old a500 or something. There ought to be dozens of them knocking around for next to nothing. Do the file transfer from there.
