Re: Games you miss playing
Wydraz um, it was nostalgia that brought me back to Empire Deluxe. Almost Ironic in light of your post.
As it is, I long for the days of Armored Miniatures (1/285). Still I admit I could never go back to them. I doubt I could find my old friends there. I remember the human interaction, the laughter around the table, Having dinner, Drinking beer (before there were micro brews aavailable). The zingers that would fly, The reparte, The comraderie. I almost established it here in the old Gryphin Growltiagga thread. It is not the same.

In the name of my old alias, "Ka ta din" Here's to the olde days. Peace my friends. Long may you live, May your victories be often and sweet.

Re: Games you miss playing
Interesting replies. I don't mean to knock nostalgia per se, but when a game dies, there is no need to mourn too much. I came to SEIV because I was missing games like Star Control and the original MOO (I won't touch MOO3).
I guess you could say it was because of nostalgia. But I'm not going back to the old games. Compared to today's games, they begin to pale. But the feelings and wonder of discovery was what it was all about for me. So I'm not disagreeing, I'm just saying that new things can often be better than old, if you keep an open mind. Take Starfury, for instance. I can't wait!

Ya, they don't make games like that any more.

Re: Games you miss playing
i miss Battlezone. single and multi player. Still the best, for me.
i miss the thrill i had playing doom 2.
i miss the long hours i spent playing SE3, there's no that addictivity in SE4 for me.
i miss civ2, the original one.
there are a lot of games i miss, old games. modern games... they're made to be sold and eye-candy, and do fit in timelines and budgets, plus the monopolies of the gaming world.

Re: Games you miss playing
I miss Armored Core, the original on playstation. A bunch of us would sit around the tube trying to blow the bejeezus out of each other. Constantly trying to re-engineer the mech to better be able to dodge missiles or to be able to squeeze on two grenade launchers at the same time without slowing to a crawl.
Some of the most fun games were the ones with self-imposed limitations like the melee games, or the all rocket games (few things were more satisfying than pasting a buddy in the mellon from across the map with an unguided rocket and claiming that it was due purely to skill ).
The gasps of astonishment and sheer joy of dodging to the edge of the bLast radius of a grenade launcher, taking a mere ten damage of what would have otherwise been an armor shredding death to my stripped down chassis with a laser strapped to the arm.
Ahh... but I ramble.
I miss the laughter, the competition, the sharpening of our collective reflexes. Ahh, the joy.

Why this instead of Enemy Unknown? Terror from the Deep was just a rehash of the original.

Re: Games you miss playing
i miss test drive for the a500. even though i still have it, it's one of the games that won't tranfer over, for some mysterious reason - not non-standard.
i can still play it on the amiga, but i'm kinda afraid to...that the graphics'll be to bad, relativily. i could do the entire thing without one cracked windshield. in the one that was good on turns. lexus, i think. could hardly get the ferrari to turn and the lambrougini was worse.

Re: Games you miss playing
I'll be honest the only game i miss playing is the demo of seII. I can remember the time i installed that, and went on a 48 hour playing binge lol. Many sleepless nights because of that game! To use Quarian Rex's quote:
"I just defeated the galaxy on easy mode, with only 4 AI players, I outnumbered their ships 3 to 1. I'm so skillfull!!!!"
But seriously i still dust down the cd from time to time and play it for a few days. The one thing that annoyed me was i never got the hang of tactical combat that much
