Re: System evacuation
I actually had this happen to me twice in one game. It was in an ancient quadrant. Fortunately, the first time was early, and I had just managed to get a decent foothold in a nearby system when I got the message. I escaped that system with minimal losses. The second time I was in the process of creating planets in a system with a better sort of star when I got the message again. Apparently the entire quadrant was in upheaval, because I managed to close myself off before the competition could eliminate me, licked my wounds and survived.

Re: System evacuation
I'm curious. When you people start a new game, what do you set as your events selection? I don't ever recall getting this message. I think the most recent disaster I had was a plague, and I still hadn't researched biology at the time.

Re: System evacuation
In order to get this you have to have the highest level of even severity enabled. I confess that in most of my recent games I have events either off or at an event severity that doesn't allow for stars to go nova on you.
If you really want to get the event on anything but a few random incidents you should turn event frequency up to a higher level as well.

Re: System evacuation
I often play at catastrophic myself, but I do tend to turn it down a bit when I'm trying to figure something out, such as the characteristic behaviors of the new races that I have just encountered in the TDM Modpack.

Re: System evacuation
Hmm, I'll have to try that setting sometime. It sounds like it makes the game more livelier than it usually is.
