Re: preordered DOM-II
So how much will total cost be to someone in Finland? €45 (or €40 with preorder) for the game, and how much for shipping? I hate it when Online stores don't post any obvious links to their shipping policies or info about themselves that would allow the customer to learn where they're based, who runs them and so forth. Gamersfront was just like that, no obvious (or from what I could see, even inobvious) links to such info. I tend to boycott operations like that on principle.

Re: preordered DOM-II
gamers front was pretty clear : you have either a 9$ cost, or a 18$ for the express mode.
it is also clearly written that the card is charged as soon as they get your command, and not when they deliver the game.
ordered 2 copies

'twas $ 11.46, and this is a quote from my "Order update notification."
BTW, the shipping cost is selected from a drop-down menu, then clicking a button next to it. Brings up a popup. This is from memory as right now I'm too lazy to check. If it helps, I got there from Shrapnel's product page -> Dom 2 -> order now. Quite painless and intuitive, actually.
plz, correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: preordered DOM-II
I will play with the demo, until the modding tools will be released. Once they are out, I will order the game.

Re: preordered DOM-II
Preordered. I liked Dominions, and just as importantly I liked the degree of support that Illwinter gave in terms of listening to the Users. A game as complex as this is almost certain to have balance issues, so listening is important...
Heh. I don't think I've visited this forum since my SE IV days. It's weird to be back.

I preorder at the (almost) Last minute before it starts costing more.

Re: preordered DOM-II
Umm add item to cart and then hit shipping quote .
Seriously we can't do it until you add it to your cart because different products cost different prices to ship.
Fairly easy.

Yeah, I used to think Star Control was the exception... then SC3 came out. Then I thought Quest for Glory was the exception... and QG:V came out. Then I thought Privateer was the exception... and Privateer 2 came out. Then I thought Total Annihilation was the exception... and TA:K came out. Then I thought System Shock was the exception... and SS2 came out. Then I thought Heroes of Might and Magic was the exception... and HOMM:IV came out. Then I thought Age of Wonders was the exception... and AOW2 came out. See a pattern?
I OWN ALL THESE GAMES!!! I WISH I DIDN'T!!! That's about US$280 down the drain.
In this case, since DOM:II is the same game engine with a graphical and UI overhaul, and more units... I should feel confident pre-ordering. But then, I felt confident pre-ordering MOO3, and it took a lot of willpower to say, "No! I'll wait for the reviews." And I'm glad I didn't buy it! Of course, I also waited for the reviews on SC3, SS2, and HOMMIV, and they were positive... but many reviewers are completely incompetent (not always their fault - I used to be a reviewer for a major newspaper - you are forced to rush to judgement).
What can I say... I will buy Half-Life 2 and Deus Ex 2 regardless of whether there are demos, even though I know the reviews will be inaccurate. But I will never pre-order another game, unless I get a 50%+ discount.

Re: preordered DOM-II
You didn't like System Shock 2? Are you absolutely sure that you were playing "System Shock 2" as opposed to, say, "Scooby Doo: Showdown in Ghost Town?"? The names may be phonetically similiar but believe me, the game underneath is totally different.

Re: preordered DOM-II
System Shock 2 wasn't... bad...
In fact, it was very scary at times. But it was not nearly as good as the original. I would say that the only advantages of SS2 over SS1 are the graphics and modern FPS-style control. These are big advantages, but SS1 had much better gameplay, music, and immersion - so it's no contest.
