Some more general advice for invading the sea:

Any water mage can enter the sea. He can take along a few units as well. I think it is 1 for every level of water magic he possesses.

On most maps you can find a fair number of land (and sea) provinces where you can build icthyids, which are amphibious.

A land nation cannot build its forts in sea provinces. So be prepared for this.

As for your specific situation, cpbeller, my advice would be to leave R'lyeh alone so long as they leave you alone. It will be much more difficult for you to get a good army of amphibious troops together than it will be for him. You'll be fighting at a definite disadvantage, and even if you win the territory will be difficult for you to defend and just generally not as useful to you as land provinces.

yeah....i have been rolling it around in my head all night....i think you are right.

Hopefully, they will leave me alone long enough to secure my southern borders from any possible incursion.

LOL! And I thought it just me, who sometimes keep thinking about Last turn in MP Dom2 game and turning it this way and that in my head before falling to sleep. Obviously it only happnes if I've been playing Dom2 late before hiting the bed.

Thanks for sharing it Cpbeller, now I know that I am not alone. Dom2 MP is addicting!

I find that pondering my Dominions turns is a good way to keep my mind occupied during otherwise "dead" time, like in the shower, driving to work, working, eating, etc.

My lack of sleep prevents me from doing any such thing. Instead I just ponder my turns endlessly and without sleep. Then I wind up coming up with something insane that becomes the next whine-du-jour. Insomnia rules.
