In Cohen's defense, I'd like to state for the record that this game was in the making BEFORE Cohen wimped out of the other Cohenian game.

Is SOB an insult to both me and my mother? I'm right?

Looks good; I like the simplicity.
I think wizard tower should be Banned too... only items allowed should be pure skillincreasing items like ring of sorcery / wizardy .

Re: MP Game - Tweaked Itemz
I've often thought that Cohen would be happier playing some sort of medieval miniatures rather than Dom2, since he spends so much time coming up with rules that make playing Dom2 as little like playing Dom2 as possible.

Re: MP Game - Tweaked Itemz
Truper I play too Warhammer Fantasy Battle, 40k and other games of the Gamers Workshop.
Role Play Games both on PC (Mmorpg) and with friends (AD&D and equivalents).
I add too I play boardgames, I'm enjoying the card driven games of the GMT like the Napoleaonic Wars, other titles like World in Flames (don't recall the australian house that produces that game) or Civilization (Avalon Hill) or such things (those with the map with hexes, the hardpaper pieces representing divisions, regiments, army corps and so on, with supply line to track, and a ton of other rules).

And are you as rude and inconsiderate with your friends, quitting the game of Civilization or Warhammer as soon as you're not having 'fun'?

In Cohen's defense, I'd like to state for the record that this game was in the making BEFORE Cohen wimped out of the other Cohenian game. The game hadn't been created on mosehansen, nor had this thread been started, when he quit and went AI.

I'm sorry - I didn't really mean to insult your mother, especially given how you latin types are about them.
But ... It's difficult to insult your father, since she didn't know who he was.

Re: MP Game - Tweaked Itemz
As one of the people who's probably going to be playing this game, I'd like to point out some complications with some of the proposed rules.
Not equipping anything but recruitable troops is all fine and good, but - it won't stop summoned commanders from getting items off the battlefield, or from the Death Match games. So - if the item isn't cursed, it has to be removed from the commander? Presumably it doesn't have to be thrown away, if the commander isn't at a lab and doesn't have fellow commanders with open slots.
Banning spells (Soul Vortex) : The thought of banning a spell is nuts. If for no other reason, because the AI might cast it once past the script. Also - because it's basically an innate ability of the commander that's being stripped away. It's like saying that Banish can't be cast, screwing priests.
(Note that I've never _cast_ Soul Vortex, but the thought of banning spells is, as said, just nuts. It's not terribly abusable, given that only a few commanders can cast it, unlike wraith swords and blood thorns, which can (and do) get thrown on every SC.)
Also - not being able to put magic items on the pretenders seems a bit extreme. It puts a huge advantage on those few pretenders that don't need much equipment, and also on those pretenders that have almost no slots. It just seems ... unreasonable to me.
I'm against the suggestion of "Only pure magic level raising items can be created / used", given that it really means that only astral nations get magic items (the ring of sorcery / wizardry are about the only ones that are "pure" - almost everything else is also a weapon, a helm, produces gems or can conjure an air elemental, etc.)

Re: MP Game - Tweaked Itemz
This is at least semi-off-topic, and I apologise for that.
Cohen, I agree with Cainehill but without the insults.
I understand the appeal of your experimental games. But unlike Cainehill I don't want to play in them, so it's frustrating to see you regularly grab the few available slots on a limited resource. The rest of us want to use it too! And if it's true that you're dropping out of your own games and creating new ones, then that's just rude.
The next couple of times you see a free slot, please leave it alone. Give someone else a chance.
Thanks.
Mark
