Such turtling is highly frowned upon when used excessively in PBW games.

to be fair, most game masters should require a rule that one warp point be accessible at all times into your empire.

This is a common tactic on PBW. Not the most reputable thing to do, but it does work.
Its also very costly but done more than one will like to admit.

Okay, I won't explore this tactic if it is not a good thing to do (as being an exploit). I sure do not know much about what is frowned upon. I sure hope I do not do anything like this. Is there a thread that lists things that are not good practices? I guess such a thread would be both good and bad. It would help those that are naive about such things and it would be bad in that it would give others ideas whom have no qualms about how they win or play. I do not know much concerning SEIV ethics since I have not played multiplayer games much at all. I realize there should be ethics, since war in general has ethics too(even though some people choose not to follow them, or are oblivious to them).

I often wonder as to why no one took the intiative to write a true strategy guide for this game. With all the strategy talk, the Dubious guide, the torpedo thead, and so one it would have been easy to gather the material to write one.

Yes, that was a good article, but... well ya, just needs more meat and patato's. I was looking for something a bit larger with more substance and images along the lines of that getting started and ship set creation PDF's that were written a while back.

Probably because everyone is too busy playing SEIV or creating races and MODS :} This guide would be a great thing for someone to do. Maybe one of you all could write a book when you have nothing else to do.
