Thank you for this. I have been reading over the older posts and was thinking that for my next game I will adjust this setting to allow for a slower paced game and to allow my older and more idle brain to get accustomed to the game mechanics.

No. Usually it happens that I encounter one, proceed to kick the snot out of it and then get jumped by two or three others and that's it. Depends on the terrain too, if there are no chokepoints, it's worse.

I did get completely flattened by a single AI one time. Started 3 provinces away from MA Ulm when playing Eriu. The horde of Guardians it threw at me was completely ridiculous and my army consisted mostly of Tuatha Warriors. It wasn't pretty...
