Re: autokilled after routing an ashen angel. bug?
Yep, routing in an assassination is an autokill. I think there's even an in-game between-turns tip about it.

Re: autokilled after routing an ashen angel. bug?
It is? I know fleeing from an assassination is death, since there is no where to run, but I thought they had to actually reach the edge of the field to flee, not just be killed instantly.

* The Ashen Angel PASSES a morale check by the numbers, but the log and screen show an "Independents Routed" anyway. This looks like the bug causing the confusion.

I haven't looked at the battle replay but it would make more sense if the Enslavement would have worked, because then the Independents routing due to no units left would make sense.
That means that either Enslavement is bugged in assassinations, or the Ashen Angel is a unit like the Lammashtas which attack their own kind as well.

Yes, it's an autokill. Which becomes an annoying problem to script support mages which are meant to cast some buffs and then retreat - they'll happily run into their own death.

Re: autokilled after routing an ashen angel. bug?
Yes, I know fleeing an assassination means death. That's not the question.
Do they die (disappear with or without a little puff of blood) as soon as they fail the morale check and start to rout, as suggested earlier in the thread? Or do they rout, try to run off the screen and die because there's nowhere to go, which is what I'd always thought?
Though, going back to the Tomb Oracle, silly question: He didn't have flying did he?

I have no firsthand knowledge of the distinction. I haven't watched the battle under discussion but if he disappears from the screen that says to me he routed off the edge.

I haven't watched it either, but Omnirizon said:

also, why didn't he flee off the edge of the field and then be autokilled, like usually happens. (note: i guess you can't see the replay, but in it the TO never fled, he just disappeared the turn after is said "indies rout")
|
Which is the distinction I was making.
Though if he could fly, it would be instant

Re: autokilled after routing an ashen angel. bug?
After reading the thread (and not being able to parse the combat log really), I have a point or two:
1) The only time I know that units simply die on the battlefield in a route condition is if they are mindless.
a) As far as I know, this does not apply to commanders.
b) I don't think the Tomb Oracle is mindless.
If this was a Marble Oracle, it could potentially occur. Either this was a bug we simply don't see very often, or, assuming (a) and (b) above are correct, the Oracle was somehow demoted to Unit Status and made Mindless. If this was the case... did the Ashen Angel reflect the Charm effect of the Oracle?
Just some musings, but as no one had mentioned the dissolution of mindless unit effect seemingly occuring, I thought I'd mention it.

It's as you thought. They leave the battlefield and then die. This is something else.
