Elixir of life may work; that's an interesting suggestion, as being "reborn" will sometimes get rid of an affliction.

It is also relevant what pretender you have. An immortal one you might as well kill (in your own dominion). An undead or demonic pretender will have the disease icon, but the disease will not affect them, so you can ignore it.

Other than that, either you need a unit w/ the "heal" ability (certain national units, like Arcos priestesses or others, or the summonable but crappy faerie queen), or the Gift of Health global, or (best of all) the Chalice artifact.

If you have none of these, or it is too early in the game, then a ring of regen will at least keep you alive, although it will not stop your pretender from picking up other afflictions.

I once had my immobile Baphomet flaming head get feebleminded by some cavalry he was teleporting on. I had to leave him drooling in the ditch for 25 turns until I managed to score the chalice.

I remember I once tried using a Crystal Heart on a diseased unit. When he died it revived him to full health but he still had all of his afflictions including disease.

You can keep a pretender alive a long time, but it'll pick up a ton of afflictions which could eventually make it useless. If it died and was reborn sooner rather than later, it might lose the disease on rebirth and have far fewer afflictions.

There's no need to kill an immortal pretender. Immortals automatically heal afflictions.

Thank you for your answers, my pretender is now healed.

And I have another question : I m about to summon a poison golem (cons 9), but I don't know if it will kill all my armies living in the same province.
And is this a good use for death gems?

I like poison golems, but they are lifeless so no regen except for leeching, and they are also vulnerable to Shatter. You can leech with a blood thorn (except it's not too efficient with the base attack of 8) or bone armor. Also they need a little help getting around: boots of flight or a winged carpet or Boots of the Planes.

They are reapers, so same effect as wielding a bane venom charm: they cause unrest, kill population, and disease your armies. If you're not at war, stick them in a gems or gold mine province where you'd like all the peasants to die anyway.

vfb's last comment is due to the fact that gold-producing sites are affected by tax, and with no population to complain, you can crank taxes to 200 without unrest. Just in case you didn't know.

Interesting strategy, I got to try it sometime.

I understand it's one of the few feasible ways for LA Ermor to get stable gold income.
