What is the map? With 9 players I suggest The Desert Eye, but I'd be happy with anything that size or bigger (somewhat of a preference for wraparound maps).

In the forests of Urraparrand, a rustling is heard. Hunters skulking through the trees in search of their prey halt, their skin prickling. A whispering wind seems to rise, eerily chilly even for early spring.

The spiders are coming. The few woodsfolk who see them are not believed, but the stories run wild around the slopes of the God Mountain. The sorcerers have found their God, and the paths of the forest are alive with giant spiders racing toward the hidden halls of sorcery. Soon a name is whispered in hushed tones around the fireside...Belakkah! That is the name of the mysterious God who has roused the sorcerers and in whose name they have called the spiders. Now village priests arise, naming young warriors of each village. Some come with spear and shield only, others with bow, others in the red cloak and armor of the elite hoplites...and others with the secret bane blades of the assassins. Now a host is gathering on the God Mountain, and the hills are alive with rumors of where it will strike, and of the nature of the God who moves it.

Some say Belakkah is a giant statue, mobile by the sorcerers' strange arts. Others insist it he is a foreigner, who through still subtler arts enspelled the sorcerers and commands them. Few have seen a woman, unnaturally pale of skin, dancing at the God Mountain's peak at the new moon, and believe that to be Belakkah. Many insist that to see Belakkah is instant death, save for a priest or sorcerer. All know that the mountain is alive, and it is the doing of Belakkah.
