Re: Hero Sword
I was thinking a little squad to kill certain SCs which is what its would normally be used for. The gargoyle is bigger, and more durable, but he'd also be more expensive... flying...
The smith only costs... what 8 gems including the spell? A few more if you put reinvig on him (but that's probably overkill, adding another dwarf would probably be better)... add a little chaff, and those with less hp will go down fairly well.

Re: Hero Sword
Im sure thats reference to the space they take up.
But I had a mental image of some old vaudeville clown routine of three short little warriors rushing forward then jumping on each others shoulders stacking 3 high and beating the crap out of some poor giant.

Re: Hero Sword
It would take 30 to surround a square. And that is a lot of hero swords, and probably only 6 dead champions. But it would take a long time to recruite them all. You could do the same thing if you had goblins.

Re: Hero Sword
30? Please explain.
Oh, and shouldn't some friendly admin be moving this to the main forum rather than MP/AAR?

Re: Hero Sword
In practice I haven't been able to get troops to attack enemy units from behind in most cases, so you can fill the 5 squares around the front of an SC with hoburgs reliably. But, you can't just set them all in a block in the middle of the field, or they'll get creamed all together. I would probably disperse them at the front and near front of the field and have them attack rear (units seem to go straighter back that way before breaking). Size 1 * 6/square * 5 squares = 30 size on hero's blade wielders.

Re: Hero Sword
In other news, try a squad of four Banes with Flying Boots and Hero Blade. Chop chop, they kill anything, and cost peanuts to field.
