Re: high five - no diplo - started!
Yes, the speed is great. Seems like we've done a half dozen turns in the last day. Unfortunately, I was the last one to submit for most of those. Normally I'd immediately send in my next turn if I was last, but due to some poor decisions early on I actually had to think about these turns more than is normal for the early game. Otherwise we might have gotten yet another couple of turns in.

Are we allowed to talk about the game or not? I have a lot of random events I would like to ***** about .

Re: high five - no diplo - started!
according to my opinion, and the customs in my no diplo games, this kind of meta-game talk is allowed, after all we are in it for the fun, and im very curious of these *stories*.

Re: high five - no diplo - started!
So far I have had a steady stream of bad events. Nothing too serious though.
A false prophet appeared as soon as I began expansion.
A riot event that raised tensions and set everyone on edge.
Bandits
Barbarians also had the misfortune of invading a province my site searchers were in.
On the plus side, a hero arrived at the gates of my city. One I have never seen before. Plus 200 gold.
I hope noone received any crippling events, though I suppose the game has moved to the point where losing a temple or lab is not a game breaking occurence.

Re: high five - no diplo - started!
my favorite so far is the "... raised a temple ..." and "... an earthquake has struck ... destroying the temple ..." in the same turn and province
(not in this game tho)

I have neutral luck scales, and only had unrest events so far. (ow, and 2 nature gems...). Sigh.

For the longest time I could never even remember to check the available mercs. I've gotten better about that but now I forget to renew their contracts half the time.
Speaking of mercs, I was surprised no one went for the longbowmen that were available a few turns ago. Those usually get taken. But maybe it was too late in the expansion phase or everyone was confident enough in their own troops. I would have grabbed them for the base asking price but figured someone would outbid me and I didn't want to spend a fortune on them.
