Re: OP Filter
I noticed the error. What I did not put limits to the maximum, which is not necessary. I think after that it worked.
I'll be careful in future games to be safe.
That was in a PBEM game in WinSPMBT.

OP-filter also operates in Basic Security PBEM-games.
Tested with Human opponents.
And at one computer, creating a PBEM-battle.

Re: OP Filter
The issue has been corrected for MBT and WW2 and will be included in the next patch we release.

Re: OP Filter
Thanks, now isn't such a fix especially regarding the PBEM security a good excuse for a "hotfix" were this is solved?
Or are you about to release the next patch soon anyway?

Re: OP Filter
We have enough issues with people skipping patches without muddying the water further by issuing a quickfix that for obvious reasons not everyone will pick up as this issue ONLY affects secure PBEM and secure PBEM REQUIRES both EXE's to be the same. And I don't see where you get that this affects PBEM security.. it has NOTHING to do with PBEM security..it affects opfire filtering in secure PBEM but not PBEM security
The issue is not critical, It does not prevent the game from playing and affects all players equally so there will not be a special fix for it issued We have set our own aim point for patch release but there is too much going on at both our ends that could throw that out the window to set a date now beyond saying we hope to have it ready at "the usual time" we've been releasing patches for the past few years....maybe

Re: OP Filter
My reference to PBEM security was just done because to my impression everyone uses secure PBEM, of course it's the OP filter that doesn't work but basically it denies the use of secure PBEM when you still want to play, I see that as considerable setback and personally I won't play till this is fixed.
Secure PBEM is there for a reason just like the OP filter and it makes at least to me no sense to play without both.
Looking forward to the patch release.

Re: OP Filter
Your logic is seriously flawed.
This issue with the opfire filters does not, in any way, "deny" anyone the use of secure PBEM.... it only means you cannot use the opfire filters in secure PBEM and I seriously doubt the majority of players use opfire filtering anyway ( or can live without it ) otherwise we would have heard a lot more about this than we have. The bug affects both players so nobody has an advantage
If you prefer to not play rather than play without opfire filtering available that's your choice but the majority of the people playing these games are playing the free version and opfire is not available to them in any case
The patch(s) will be released when we are ready to release them...... no sooner

Re: OP Filter
Well a bug is a bug and just because both players suffer from it doesn't make it in any way "OK".
So I see my logic working very well here.

Re: OP Filter
Hi Guys
Just for the record.
The op-fire filter does not work for PBEM in Basic nor Full security.
At least that's what's been happening to me in all my PBEM since the last patch up.
Plenty of players use the op-fire filter and I personally use it all the time in PBEM.
It's absolutely crucial in getting a decent ambush to work and to stop players soaking off shots from your AFVs by firing at them with infantry. Without it it's like going back to the dark ages for me and has forced me to completely re-set my style of play and also to negotiate 'no soak off' rules before games.
It's a real shame that's it's going to take a while to be fixed, but I guess I'll just have to wait.
It was one of the best, if not the best, improvement in this great game.
Now if we could just get a reduction of the power of z-fire (for suppression) or at least a control for it (like arty effectiveness) in the prefs...we'd be rocking.
It's a PBEM game killer at the moment.
Thanks for keeping this great game alive and improving.
BTW - one of the reasons there was not more made of this is that there's a real feeling in the PBEM community that when we come here to make comments or complain we get treated like second class citizens and get our heads bitten off.
It sucks as I really hold that PBEM is the Master Class of SP.
I only ever use the AI as system / gear testing. Playing a human is the ultimate test IMO. The AI, no matter how good it has become, is just a pale shadow.
I understand that you (Don and Andy) have worked very hard and long for (probably) bugger all reward (except plenty of thank yous) and that it must be excruciatingly annoying dealing with idiotic questions. Again, I thank you for all that work. However there's a reason why this is my first post here in an age.
I fully expect to get my arse handed to me for what I have said and that doesn't inspire me, and quite a few other regular PBEM players, to be more active on the forum.
Cheers
Jason
