Why let facts stand in your way while posting? The graphs tell the story. He is 3rd in research AND he playing abysia for god's sake. I feel ashamed.

well scoregraphs are sometimes not good .
Now his armysize after his merchants are away is very low .
But if pangenea plays maenad hordes or ermor plays especially ashen empire it soon leads armysize graph . Ermor normally has an almostrainbow pretender so his gemincome on graphs is one of the biggest too .
Then ppl let blind them just by scoregraphs and forget that bloodincome is not shown , clamincome etc. is not shown too etc. etc.
Pythium looks quite powerful on scoregraphs at the moment too . But it is way to early to tell anything from scoregraphs .
Though Cohen has probably about 4-5 provinces more than pythium he doesn't get much more money and this will drop soon more when Cohen starts to bloodhunt .
Abysia is not easy to play because all his bloodhunters are capitol only . Anathemants are not good researchers and rather expensive .
Sure sooner or later Cohen will find sages but so do the other nations . Pythiums theurg / Caelums (Arch) seraph e.g. are not capitol only and good researchers + battlemages .
Cohen has to find the balance between bloodhunt , income and research which is not so easy .
Don't trust too much on the scoregraphs . If one nation has a lot more troops than others like ermor / pangenea this doesn't mean the nation is stronger .
If a nation has twice as many provinces but bad clamhoard / sitesearch abilities then it is probably not stronger but weaker than a smaller nation with more gem income .
