Randy,

We should talk about some of the ending items/info from this module so we can "hook" them into your next module/world. I have some interesting info we can use to get us to your world.
With this in mind we can talk about the not having elves issue . I should be on MSN & ICQ most of the day today and tomorrow.

Define "mature". My defination is probably not in line with most peoples so lets clarify.

Since I dont have those works I probably am not interested in their use. Standard D&D AD&D however you want to call it leaves plenty of room for house rules. Just announce them ahead of time.

I wouldnt mind using a non-standard world... I made them all time time and never used a pre-fab when I DM'd. I just question the use of the word "mature"

I would like to avoid feeling like I'm reading one of David Drake's darker novels. For that matter, I'd like to avoid feeling like I'm reading his lighter stuff most of the time.

Ok, as 2 players would rather not (and even if it was only 1 player) i'll skip the mature stuff. I like to think of the roleplaying aspect of D&D and our sessions as an unfolding story, as a result I am trying to create in my world a story. So things do not just happen one after the other, the actions of heros and villains have a Lasting effect, starting with the creation of the world by the various gods and then recording the myriad empires that come afterwards.
To illustrate, the Elves are hated by man because when Elves were created their god was so enamoured by his creations he failed to see that he had inadvertantly placed pride in them. The Elves see themselves as the ultimate race and all others are inferior. I'm not trying to make elves evil (although their anger at being abandoned means they are susceptible to it) but they are victims of pride, they enslaved the humans because they believed the humans were unable to do what was right whereas the clearly superior Elves knew best. Humans eventually rose up and overthrew the Elves, so humans hate Elves for enslaving them and the Elves hate Humans for killing so many Elves during the uprising. Its not helped by the fact that the Elves creator died in battle with the Orc god. They are a Proud, angry race with no God to care for them.
I'm trying to instill a base sin in each major race. Elves are victims of Pride, Dwarfs are greedy staying in their underground cities hoarding their riches, and humans are full of lust (I don't mean they're hedonists, they just pursue their own pleasures more than others).

Edit: I feel I must apologise, I have just been informed of what "Mature" means and it does not cover what I was referring to. I used the term "Mature" as that is what the book is referred to as. I do not want to use such things as rape, child abuse or "snuff". I just thought using the "evil spells" and rules in the book would add flavour. Its the difference between "Inflict wounds" where you suffer damage with no explanation of what damage is caused and an "evil" spell which causes damage in the form of causing bleeding wounds. There are some things in the book I never had any intention of using such as placing a seed in someone and having them eaten alive over a few days. If its ok with players we can use them, if anyone feels uncomfortable I am ok with not using the rules.

I love this comic and what with our discussing Cthulhu some time ago thought this was hilarious

While I'm at it try this one. I think it particularly apt since none of us knows what we all look like (at least I don't)

Hmm...I've never read a gaming comic with that joke in it, but I havn't been able to find very many. Correction, maybe two or three. It's kinda hard to remember, for reasons my sig makes clear.

As to your first post, I wouldn't object to: 'As the words resounded throughout the room, ringing of death and despair, five parralel slashes opened on Cedric's chest'.

If that's what your asking.

I havn't heard the joke myself but having played Cthulhu once I can well imagine how it goes (much like the joke in Blackadder goes forth)

Black Adder: "Would this plan involve climbing out of the trench and marching slowly towards the enemy?"
General Melchett: "Amazing how did you know?"
BA: "Its the same plan we used Last time, and the 15 times before that"
GM "Theres only one problem"
BA "Everyone gets killed in the first 10 seconds"

Dejavu weekend for me as we have another storm "Ivan" bearing down on us. So if you don't hear from me on Monday or Tuesday I probably don't have any power.

I did lose my phone line when the people removing the stump of the avocado tree cut my phone line. I was in fear of no internet and phone line connection since repairs are taking a week or more due to the other outages in the area. Needless to say I couldn't wait so I sat down and sodered all 12 small wires for connectivity.

If anyone is curious on the storms path go here: Tracking Ivan

My life has been a bit more dramatic and interesting than D&D recently. I have been hiding from three giants (hurricanes Francis, Ivan & Charlie), fighting tons of orcs (locals), a few goblins (tourists) as we all search for food, tools, shelter and gas. I have also been an Inn keeper to family and friends (since I cook well). I think I gained a few more levels of experience since I previously fought a couple other hurricanes and survived a direct hit from huge giant Andrew 11 years ago. Anyone want to join me in Miami for a live game this weekend???

LOL - Good Luck again...

Description I dont mind... like Narf mentioned.... just the other stuff I do mind...

Though I wonder about the personalities we have already begun with our characters considering the climate of the world and if we would be required to alter those personalities....

Good news here, the storm is passing by my area. Can everyone make it to tonight's session? I may be a few minutes late as I am heading out but I should return around 9'ish. Having an infant makes it easier to leave on a schedule.

Let me know if you can't make it tonight. I think we can finish the lair tonight ... I calculated the experience to this point and most are near or just over 10,000 so get ready to bump up to 5th level ... if you survive that is ... mwhaaa haaa haaaaaaaaaaaaaa
