Bum.
We were just taking a closer look at the planet. After some long-range scanning, we decided the smell coming up from the ground was too disgusting and moved on.

I'd like to get back on the hill.

But my games situation means days could go by without my being able to play a Koth turn, followed by days where I could play almost continuously.

If you guys thinks this is alright, I'd like to play, otherwise I'll wait till things settle down a bit.

It would be OK with me. Sure, I like fast games but I think it would be fine (especially if, on the days you could play, you could try to make arrangements with your opponent...which COULD be me if Mark keeps whipping my butt!)

A short update while PBW is down:

Alneyan vs Master Belisarius, aka "Who will be the lucky one to go after BBegemot for his next KOTH game?". Turn 55 or so.

There have been quite a few skirmishes of late, where I had the upper hand since my infamous Light Carriers are invincible. (Granted, having better ECM/CS and first shot does help, but not to the point of destroying a fleet twice as big as yours with no casualties) However, Belisarius has raiders behind the lines, and they are currently headed straight for my homeworld. My homeworld! How dares he! The current defences of my homeworld includes the Almighty Escort Harbinger of Doom, but even such a fine vessel might not be enough to repel the four raiders and their minesweeper escort.

I think I have more systems than Belisarius, but given the number of Nebulaes/Asteroid belts on my side, I guess we are roughly on par here. I have more planets than he does, but unbreathable moons have never been known to give much help. Still, my situation isn't as bad as I had expected, and with another tech colony being put to good use, I should expect to finally get rid of my mineral shortages.

The game does seem to be quite open for now, but its final outcome will likely be decided in the turns to come. My spies have reported an increasing flow of Light Cruisers from Belisarius's systems however, so another strike seems likely. There are enough ways to reach my systems thanks to these pesky nebulaes, but I trust my luck will handle such an eventuality. (With the involvment of these Dichosos Light Carriers if needed, or even a Pandora or three. *Winks at Slynky*)

What am I? Broccoli pudding!?!

Just for that remark, I'm going to drag out my match with BBegemott for as long as I can!

Why I do believe the power supply in my computer is looking a tad dry. Mayhaps I should wet it's appetite with a glass of water...

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZAP!

Could be. But think after the first wave of shots, I had less than the half of my combat ships (into the fleet, existed 6 sweepers and 1 repair ship).

Think it was a good move... but can't bet my ships would destroy your planet...

At the end, think would be difficult to me, reach the victory (not impossible but...). I have not enough good mineral planets and the Alneyan's raiders are doing his job too!

I am betting on a shortage of supplies to save my homeworld, but even if I lose the planet, it shouldn't be so much of a problem. (Hopefully)

Katchoo, why, it was part of my plan. My insolent actions ignited your wrath, and you shall be a force to be reckoned with, dangerous enough to eat high-bonus Asmalas for breakfast. Besides, BBegemott will underestimate you with any luck, thus improving your odds even more. Such was the purpose of my message. (Why do I have the nagging feeling I am not too credible?)

Mark the Merciful (Kif Hegemony) vs Slynky (Trithian Empire) - 2404.5

May as well post a report while we're waiting for PBW

We're playing in a small spiral galaxy, and our home systems started out next to each other - something Slynky, having chosen Ancient, realised quicker than I did. He had a chance on turn three to bombard my planet with a missile armed ship, and with a bit of luck could have done enough damage then to end the game. Slynky decided not to. Very gentlemanly, but the wrong decision I think; this is a competitive tournament.

Pretty soon after that we both had the connecting warp-point blocked with defenses, and were trying to expand elsewhere. However, my homeworld sits between Slynky and most of the rest of the galaxy, and he's had to either fight his way through or wriggle around me in order to find colony space. Which he's done far too well for my liking, but I think it's been a big disadvantage to him.

Thanks to some poor race-design and early research decisions, my warships tend to explode as soon as they come within scanner range of his. The successes I've had have been with minefields (Slynky tried to send a 12 ship force into my home system in around 2403 and didn't bring enough sweepers...), kamikaze ships at warp points, or overwhelming numbers. The Last twenty turns have been very tense, because with a couple shared systems and no definable front-line, it's a completely different game to the Last one we played.

I've now put together a force of 16 ships, which was strong enough that his superior ships couldn't beat it, and had enough sweeping capacity to get through his minefields. So far it's glassed a couple of his expansion colonies, and is looking for more...

But I'm sure Slynky's got stuff I haven't seen (what's he been building up in his home system?), so nothing's decided yet. More news, as soon as it happens...

Mark

I think it's alright and I've put you back on the hill. However I'll ask your opponent whether that's OK with him as well.

Thanks Asmala.

That's why I posted. So any possible opponent could say, "No thanks." In any event, I will try to play at least one turn every day.
