Re: Are you tough enough to be the "King of the Hill"?
Anyone seen Darkhorse lately? He hasn't played a turn in a couple days now.

I'm sorry man, but I've worked two straight 12 hour days, plus I've come down with a cold. I'll try to get as much done this weekend as I can, but my eyes are kinda bleary at the moment and I'm having a hard time reading what i'm typing.

I wasn't upset or nothing I was just curious and wondering if anything happened to you. But your healt takes priority so don't worry about the game if you don't feel like messing with it much. We'll get there.

Hope get feeling better soon. I hope it's not the same one I am finally getting over. One mean mofo. I was sick for over a month. (extenuating circumstances tho).

Re: Are you tough enough to be the "King of the Hill"?
A news post on one of the "bottom tier" games. It's turn 79, and the "Cheeze vs Gandalph" game is still going strong. Despite having made contact somewhere around turn 29, both of us were apparently either saving up and building "best possible" fleets, or we're both chicken.
After some tentative light battles, Gandalph came charging hard into my systems, doing damage and spreading chaos. On such push made it right to my homeworld. The sacrifice of a few ships ahead of the this attack fleet slowed the fleet long enough for a credible defense to be mustered over the my homeworld, and this strike was defeated. The Cheeze military made two incursions into Gandalph's territory, meeting with some success. One such fleet was terminated abruptly by a very sneaky mostly-cloaked fleet. The remaining one runs rampant, at least for now. I'm hoping I did some destruction to his resource base and general population happiness.
The game could end very soon, but it appears we'll be slugging it out in the trenches (probably 6 or 7 primary systems) for a while. Gandalph has superior construction ability and propulsion expertise, while my organic tech provides some counter-balance.

We'll get there. OK something is seriously screwy with this game. The Last two turns I've uploaded have been completely ignored and the AI is wreaking havoc on my already sorry empire. This has happened to at least two other games recently that I'm involved in, either to myself or someone else in the game. I'm quite sure I'm sending the right file to the server, and I've repeatedly turned all the AI and minister option off, but to no avail. What is going on???
EDIT: Come to think of it, this isn't the only weirdness happening in the Last few weeks. In a 7 player game, one player sees everyone else's empire graphics change every turn; this has also happened to me (in this koth game, actually); also, corrupted zip files on download... ack! what is happening!?!

Re: Are you tough enough to be the "King of the Hill"?
I confirm the server not taking the files. This Last turn the AI messed up alot of my stuff. Added stuff to Q's and so forth. I don't know what the deal is with this. Geo got any answers?
Darkhorse, regarding the changing pics everytime you load the game. Did you download the shipset that I have selected? Or downloaded the shipset that was seletec in the other games? If you do not have the shipset I am using for this game the computer will randomly select a race file and use that for the ships. If you have downloaded and have the shipset on your computer I do not know what is going on.

Re: Are you tough enough to be the "King of the Hill"?
With the changing shipset files, you might also want to make certain you have the same directory and file names as the player who created/selected the empire. In my current KOTH game, I am using the United Floral Empire, but my directory is UnitedFlora. In some downloads of this shipset, the directory/filenames are started with Uf. Gandalph was having a problem with this before we communicated and corrected this.
