There's also a penalty in enemy dominion, and that bonus is percentile based, so even a huge bonus doesn't amount to much HP.

Wait, are you saying that a pretender with a Dominion of 1 who is in a 1 Dominion territory will have the same stat bonuses as a pretender who has Dominion of 9 and is in a 9 Dominion territory? Ie., 100% of his potential Dominion?

Another option instead of removing lifedrain would be making them have very low strength, i tend to boost the strength of mine alot (boots of strength, girdle of might and sometimes bearclaw talisman/lycan amulet) so reducing the strength reduces lifedrain which reduces their effectiveness. or you could give them a fixed (say 10ap) lifedrain attack so they cant drain too much.

Good point. I think in Dom3 they should have two abilities that do similar things. One would be an attack called "lifedrain" which deals X armor negating damage (apart from strength) and gives that amount back to the creature as life. Then, they could add a new ability called "consume life". Any damage a creature with consume life deals with any of its melee weapons causes it to gain that much life back. Ideally, creatures with this ability would only be things like awakened pretenders and high level summons.
