It is certainly a unique idea, but I don't know if it is focussed enough.
ISTM that the ships fitting that description would be too varied to fit into a single hull size.
A "Derelict" or a "FutureShip" image might be good for scenarios...
I imagine you could just make a Human shipset using variations on saucers and cigar ships, and tell how terran spacetravel was revolutionized by their discovery in the historical description.

Might it be possible to include a patch zip only including the newest ships? Dialup is really slow and stinky.
