Re: The SE IV Companion 0.80 Beta Released
Ok, no log files even in the root directory. But here is the companion.log file for you to look at.
I deleted everything of the companion and reinstalled it and set it up and still the same errors.
And the savegame issue was my fault. I didn't realize I had "all" selected on the left.

Ok, thanks.
I'll send a new Version shortly with better log capacity, this comp.log gives no clue.
EDIT:
I got an idea!
The #CPDE file didn't have any ending?
If you open it with notepad, or send it to me, does it have anything under saved to:?

Re: The SE IV Companion 0.80 Beta Released
The #CPDE file says the following:
Quote:
Game: Turn: PBW Identity:
URL:
(this was my password here so I took it out)
saved to:
http://seiv.pbw.cc/GamePlayer/kothrv...e&game=1bnd0ln
under name:
C:\Program Files\Shrapnel Games\Malfador Machinations\Space Empires IV Gold\Savegame\kothrvw_53.zip

TOTAL FAILURE, BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME!
Brought to you by Ruatha (tm)! (Se Ya)

I also attached the new comp.log for you. The KOTH game at the end is the game I am trying to download to test this.

Re: The SE IV Companion 0.80 Beta Released
Ruatha,
That Last fix did the trick. It is now downloading and unpacking just fine. Thanks for all your work that is going into this. I will let you know if I come across any other bugs that need to be addressed.
Thank you again!

2.BUG.
Is there an "ALL" option in the mod screen aswell? There should be, if there's not that's the bug!
You can temporary fix it by pressing the "Change Savegame path" for that particular game I hope.
I cannot recreate this bug even if I remove my main savegame direcctory.
Could you enable the debug log and press a refresh and then send me the log?
|
Sod's law... it's not doing it now- working perfectly. I think the trick is to always make sure you click very definitely on the game you are referring to.

4. In the settings screen, beside the "Alert options" button is the scanner interval, will make more clear.

Ah, thanks.

5. There is one I belive, if you launch the companion for that game, the launch button. There is a Download button. That should always be enabled, If it's not there's a bug!
|
FOund it, thanks.
Now I have a new question... I set the companion to come on every time I boot up, so it can keep me up to date with my PBW games. I'm running XP HOme. It works fine when I log on as myself, but when my missus logs onto her account, the companion tries to boot (she doesn't even play se4, and has no interest in the companion except for the nice wedding photo) and throws some wierd error Messages at her.
Can you make the auto-start so that it only applies to the current user?
ANd now, just to add some balance to this thread which focusses on bugs and errors in the companion (which is wonderdul), I shall sing a short ode in its honour, and perform a happy little jig.
*Dgoscoff sings a short ode in honour of the companion (which is wonderdul), and then, predictably, dances a happy little jig.

Bows in wonder at the jig, and applauds the ode aswell
I shall mak ethe utmost effort in applying the autostart to the current user, the password and other settings are stored for the current user, so it shall show an error message when someone elso logs on, (I hadn't used the autostart option myself, so I hadn't hought of it).
Will fix asap.
EDIT:Fixed, coming in next ver.
