Actually, the technology behind the sliderule could still be used to obtain greater accuracy than the ones we used 30 years ago. If you wanted 6 place precision instead of three, all you'd have to do is make one, oh...about a thousand feet long (not counting travel). Not even a quarter mile, no problem. Let's see...to operate it you'd need two pickup trucks with winches, periodic sources of lubrication, and a bicycle to get you back and forth to the hairline.
