I ran it with less, but it will be slow.

Re: Estimated System Reqs?
I'm not exactly sure what I have, as my computer was custom built for me. I know it has the latest ADK (I know that's close, but I can't remember the exact letters right now), which runs about 1.8 gb, a 32 mb Savage V4 video chip and 256 megs of ram. I hope that's good enough.

Re: Estimated System Reqs?
The settings are ajustable in the game or out of it. I'm running XP Pro on a custom built P4 1.8 ghz with 512K Cache, 512 MB DDR RAM, and GF4 Ti 4400. I run it with every setting maxed out and I never experience a drop in performance (unless some background task starts up).
A couple of lessons though:
Make sure your video card drivers are up to date (we had issues with this at first). Sound card drivers too are good to have updated, but I don't think anyone in the beta had trouble with it, but you might as well do it. There might be specific mobo/chipset related issues, which might require a BIOS update (only if you know how to do it).
Some of you will get much greater performance if you get newer video cards. You don't have to get anything past a GF2 I'll bet. 16MB video cards are sooooo 90s.
DX 9b should be distributed with the SESF disk (its free to MM to do so) so if you have a slow download speed, don't worry too much.
As for computer parts, I shop Newegg.com exclusively. They have great selection and good prices.
Pricewatch is good, but shipping can add up if you buy parts from more than 2 vendors.

That's about twice mine, and IIRC, about 6x the slowest machine in the beta test.

Re: Estimated System Reqs?
To be more specific, when I started the beta test I had a PII-300A Celeron with 320Mb RAM and 16MB TNT videocard. It ran playable ok under Win98, but when I switched to XP, it was super slow.
I'd recommend at least a PIII with a decent videocard at the least.
Edit:
SJ - I had the slowest machine!

Re: Estimated System Reqs?
I'm not even going to ask why you had more RAM than CPU speed.
And with that system, switching to XP slowed everything down, I assume.

Re: Estimated System Reqs?
It is always good to have as much ram as you can get.

I actually had two computers that had more RAM than processor speed (laptop also had 320Mb vs 300Mhz). With XP the system performed about the same for most normal tasks, but more importantly was much more stable! Unfortunately not for Star Fury though.

I think 8 and above is recommended, but I'd just downloaded the latest one (9.0b?) for the best results.
