It's too bad Conan the Barbarian is often shown on TV edited with much of the injury edited out. I watched the USA Network show it, and they edited out much of the combat (showing the actual wounding) and even the final beheading. Lamers.

Lol! Never thought I'd see debates over which Conan movie was "better"!

The original Conan ruled, in my opinion a far superior movie.

Hell, the first 15 minutes of Conan is better than Gladiator, one of the best movie openings ever. Great soundtrack, James Earl Jones, the riddle of steel, and HE KNOCKED OUT A CAMEL FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!

The camel was in Conan II.
Conan 2. wasn't bad, but part I. was much better.
I assure you, there was camel-punching in Conan the Barbarian (pt. I) I can't say if there was any in Conan the Destroyer as that movie hasn't merited nearly the same amount of watching, despite its possession of Wilt the Stilt.
Hm....camel in Conan I.? This is odd, I really don't remember. Hm...maybe it was in the scene near Mount Doom.
I guess I gotta watch the DVD again.

*Edit*

I've forgot to mention....300 will be a decent movie also I guess, especially for fans who like historical movies from the ancient eras.

Here is the IMDB link for it:

Yes, the camel punch occurs when Conan and that Hun guy take some black lotus and are wandering around eating lizards on a stick.

I may not know algebra, or Spanish, or geology, or the US tax code, or even basic social skills...

but I do have an uncanny ability to recall all camel punching events.

Conan the Destroyer was a horrible movie, pathetic, just a piece of crap from start to finish. I blocked most of it out due to trauma.

Personally, I'd like to see a Conan/Gladiator type hardcore sword and sorcery movie with Ridley Scott as director and Sam Raimi as producer. Elric comes to mind...

P.S. I *THINK* the camel-punching scene occurred when Conan and the Hun guy (named Ogadai??? Bogatai???) were entering the bazaar and the camel spits all over Conan, so Conan thumps the camel on the head, whereupon the camel falls down dead. Conan 2 wasn't the movie Conan 1 was, but there *are* some decent scenes-decent as in decent for early 80's sword-and-sorcery, which was practically intrinsically crappy. One interesting note is that the actor who played the thief in Conan 2 later played the security guard Stanley Tweedle on the Lexx. And The Lexx kicked a lot of explitive. Another note in Conan 2's favor is that they salvaged the magician from the first movie, the actor of which did a very solid job, in my less than humble opinion. And it's got Grace Jones. Overall, I think the director/producers atleast were pointed in the right direction (for the movie, if not-certainly not-for the books), I just think they were hamstrung by no budget, low tech/cheesy special effects, and too much camp spirit.

Yeah, the "special effects" in Conan 2. were horrinble, especially the monsters. Those are screwed the whole movie for me.
Anyways the movie itself was good overall, and the music was excellent. The opening scene with the riders was just...awesome
