Aw c'mon now-I at least had to test Well sure, but if you get yourself killed they don't let you take the test.
Getting yourself killed looks very bad on your military record. Unless it's during a war, then you get a medal.

The real answer is, we work for a living.
This seemed like a good topic for my first post... This thread reminds me of a favorite Beetle Bailey cartoon:
General Halftrack walks around, shouting "Colonel! ... Major! ... Lieutenant ... Sergent! ..."
As he stomps away angrily, we see next door the permanant Private Beetle Bailey lounging on a bench musing aloud:
"For a minute there, I thought I was going to have to get up"

Hey, I'm a second luey now too.
I'm glad there not using the US Navy ranks.
Anyone want to be a Rear Admiral Lower Half?
Joke:
A couple were siting on the end of a park bench. A foul smelling bum walks up and sits down on the other end. The couple tried to ignore him but the stench was too much and so they left. The bum happily laid down and streched out on the bench.
The Moral of this story is: Rank Doth Have It's Privilages.

The "unpronounceable one" has posted enough Messages to raise his rank from seargent to 2nd louie.
Keep at it Kamog, you'll get there too.
And so will I if I keep posting fluff like this.

That one goes over much better to those of us who have lived it for a while... I served 8 years in the USAF.
In fact, you may like some of the discussion in When to attack
I didn't get into the Tenants of Aerospace Power... as you will will recall from Leadership school among other places.

Which isn't right either since in the U.S. Military space belongs to the Air Force! hehe

Very true; fortunately it's hard to get oneself killed programming computers. Just have to watch out for those nasty papercuts.
EDIT: Oh, and thanks to everyone for welcoming me. I've been lurking here for a while learing how to mod, so I almost feel like I know a lot of you already. I guess it's only fair to be known as well.

Which isn't right either since in the U.S. Military space belongs to the Air Force! hehe That may be, but the first fleet of war ships that leave near earth orbit will be commanded by an Admiral. If you need to attack a far off target, then the Air force is up for the job. But if you are in the business of projecting power and influence, then you call the navy. Besides, the Air force needed to get the space defense job. In this day and time, their two legs of the triad are obsolete in every event but an all out first strike. Boomers carry the bulk of our deliverable weapons of mass destruction. Sure the Air force gets the tactical bombing jobs, but there is not a lot of glamour in carpet bombing with BUFF’s, and at today’s prices, we wont be seeing anymore large fleets of heavy bombers. Like the battlewagon, they have had their day. And regardles of what happens, when the time comes to kick butt and take names, it will be grunts applying the boot to the butt!
