Re: SE4 Rating System
Thank-you for the welcoming.
Are there any standard settings for the challenges?
If it is allowed...any takers for a limited resources game?

Re: SE4 Rating System
Slynky - Gozguy and I agreed to put our KOTH game into the Ratings board and I am also playing Anklebiters and would like to put that on the Ratings board.
In addition, check your PM

There is a challenge thread Here.
You can see what is available or post a game setting you would like. That would even include finite resources (though I'm not sure how popular that is...I've played it on occasion). I think you'll find new players are welcomed and there is usually someone pretty quickly reponding to a challenge if the settings look good to them and if they have a "game slot" available .

I checked my PM (and don't see anything new...also, I have it notifying me by email and have nothing there as well). My email is in my siggy if you need it.
As to the games...
As always, it's possible I missed something somewhere so I spent some time digging around. I see you joined the Ratings system in Sep 1. But I don't see anything in the Anklebiter thread that you wanted it to count for a rating. I don't keep my "deleted" folder in Outlook for much more than a month, so I don't see anything in there about either game. I found some email from Goz but it didn't pertain to the KOTH match between you two.
So, any mistakes aside that I may have made (for which I apologize ahead of time), I'll have to take the standard approach I have done in the past:
Anklebiters: I have no idea what place you are in, who you have met (etc.). But, in lieu of any oversight on my part, all I can say is that if all the other rated players (voting privately to me) agree to allow your participation to be rated, then I will update the Games page to reflect it. I will vote publicly and my vote is "yes".
KOTH: 18 turns have passed in that game and the same option is available for it to be a rated game. That is, if I receive a message from Gozguy saying this game is a rated game. This comment can be made right here as there is no need for privacy.
Once again, if I missed something, I am sorry . I hate making mistakes that affect people's rating. Usually, I respond to people's emails for game Ratings so if you (or Gozguy) can send me a reply you received from me, that will serve as definite proof that I made a mistake. I take this approach with everyone in order to make sure everything is above board and the Ratings system continues to remain above reproach. EVERY person I have "dealt" with in the Ratings system has been without reproach as well.

Re: SE4 Rating System
It is I who should apologize as it seems I have not taken the proper steps (and was absent for a short while) to notify you of my intent. I certainly did not mean for it to sound as if you were lax, as you have not been. I greatly appreciate the work you put forth to maintain the Ratings system and its associated web page. My gratitude is yours.
Edit - I was distracted after my first post, but prior to sending the PM. Feel free to check now.

Thank you for you kind words, assuming it was not my mistake (I guess we will never know what happened...), and taking the time to bump my forum rating (it had to be you ).
As to people making contributions to this game we all love...people do it several ways: Create games for other players on PBW, operate PBW, sponsor tourneys, share their knowledge, donate money, donate time, make shipsets, design mods, and well, most importantly, join in games and have fun while at the same time exhibiting a wonderful sense of fairplay and sportsmanship. Everyone doesn't have time, or money, or a great deal of knowledge to share but everyone I have played with has done one of the above.
