No problem, but to tell the truth I haven't been working on the "Swarm" much lately, for the past few of days since I got L3 I'v been doing something else, well, interesting(I think it is anyway, I haven't seen it done elswhere like I'm doing it), the best way to explain is with this story:
One day in the terran empire, a field study was commissioned to study the Void in between star systems. An advanced science vessel was prepared with all the latest equipment, several scientist, and their families. One child of these reseachers, a young boy of 12 years, had always been taken with the notion of Pirates of ancient times, he couldn't know exactly what it's like to be a pirate, couldn't know the feel of fresh sea air billowing in the sails, but he could imagine. And imaginehe did, that's all he could do on the Research ship, there was one other "child", a cute 16 year old redheaded girl he had a crush on and he was terribly shy. He avoided her and just stayed in his room or went to a secluded part of the ship which was seldom visited, but had an excelent view, and imagined and drew little ships in a note book.
One day a bright light apeared all around the ship and it shook violently. Radiation detectors went off the scale and there was panic. The boy ran through the corridors of the ship looking for his parents but found them dead, tears of crimson running down there eyes from bursted blood vessels, he ran to find the girl but was starting to feel sick and fell. The girl found him, and managed to drag him to a shielded cryo-escape pod just big enough for one person where he would be "safe". he regained consiousness just in time to see the girl be consumed by the radiation, blood running from her eyes. Just then everything went white, and he was surrounded by ethereal creatures. "They" were the cause of the radiation, "They" saw the science ship and decided to investigate, but didn't realize the radiation they naturally gave off was harmful. "They" "altered" the boy, making him resistant to the radiation, and granting him the abillity to "Will" things into being with his mind. "They" were grief sticken at Their carelessness, for "They" were explorers too. "They" communicated this to him in an instant, along with the promis that They would do every thing in their power to make the boy happy, give him his own world, all his wishes they could grant they would, but they couldn't grant all his wishes. The boy realized that his familly and friends were dead, he saw his crush die saving him and he never got to say how he felt or even a simple good-bye. He was filled with rage, his instincs took over and the Temporal warping abilities he now had were manifested 1000 time more than the beings had anticipated, fueled by the boys big imagination he overwhelmed every being, warping their minds and enslaving them all in a fit of rage only a child is capable of. He was reborn then and he knew his destiny, using the enslaved population of the beings and the temporal manifestations of his imagination, he would be RODGER, PIRATE KING OF THE UNIVERSE

Just downloaded your swarm shipset, what have you got in mind for racial techs or modifiers? post around for someone to make the ai for this as it is a great idea and deserves to be a challenge!
I'm not to sure about the space pirates though, everyone seems to be making a pirate style ship at the moment, is it a natural urge once a year to be pirateish?
Keep up the good work!
Edit: Constructive criticism time: try and make the mini's and portraits lighter, the portraits don't matter that much but the mini's are quite hard to see in game, just my findings and i hope you get an Ai put together with this, maybe it should have a high defensive capabilities cos each ship is so small? just my ideas

mlmbd, any progress on the shipset in L3, I want to see what you've been up to.
And If anybody wants to make the AI for the swarm post here, I doubt if I'll ever get to it...(I really think I like doing he graphics more than the TXT files ) I want them to be Berzerkers, and use the organic and psychic tech traits, also minimize their intelegence, they don't need it for more than defensive purposes(big bugs make lousy spies). Also if you can get them to use Seekers, drones, fighters, and satellites effectively that would be awesome. Like building a Transport full of satelite launchers.

i think the images mlmbd did are cool, but possibly a bit to bright, i know everyone's being picky about brightness and darkness but this a great idea for a set and we all want it to be the best it can be

I like them, although they could be a wee wee wee bit darker, i mean very slightly.
And again, its a great shipset, unique, and good artowork, we need more unique shipsets.

I like what you did mlmbd, Especially the "spine turrets" , it never occured to me to make them a separate color. You can hardly tell they're there in my set, I'll fix that when I redo them myself. I plan to make a few more "bug" sets, a "locust" set, a "beetle" set and maybe an "ant" set or colorful butterflies(that would be cool), and more if I can find an Entimology book (anybody know what the "smartest" bugs are), AFTER I finish my Pirates.(I may start them sooner though, I'm geting "doga block" on my Pirate carriers and the "utility" classes). Anybody know where I can get more parts for DogaL3(more natural bug looking), I already got the ones from the other topic.
