Re: OT - Forum Decorum
is it me or has this forum been really busy lately.
There has to be about 60 threads running right now. Shouldn't we be slowing down before gold??
I am coming here 3 times a day now to keep up.
Ouch.
Not complaining.
P.s. Canadians are quite polite.
If you hit there parked car in their driveway the first things out of their mouth will be 'Sorry about putting the car in driveway'

Re: OT - Forum Decorum
must be because lots of forum lurkers have lots to say - I suspect when Gold comes out the forum will go into meltdown
Canadians are nice and polite - just like British - muggers over here ask permission first 'Excuse me old bean, would you mind awfully if I just helped myself to your wallet?' 'Yes?, oh well, never mind, sorry to have troubled you'

Re: OT - Forum Decorum
As an ex-semi-lurker, I know what you're talking about. I have made about 80 Posts in the Last 2 weeks or so. KA-BOOOM!!!
[EDIT]
Actually, that number might be closer to 60 or so. I can't remember what my # of Posts were before this explosion.

Re: OT - Forum Decorum
dumbluck, I really hope the punchline was worth it!
if you want to hear a good lawyer joke, I think the best doing the rounds at the moment is
Q "what do lawyers use for contraception?"
A "their personalities"

Re: OT - Forum Decorum
More or less on the off-topic of "Forum Decorum", I was just browsing postings and looking at people's "ranks" (wondering if I would ever post enough to get myself promoted to corporal), when I noticed something that gave me a chuckle -- all you "seargeants" out there have your ranks misspelled (should be sergeant, according to my dictionary). So there! Now I can feel better for still being a lowly pfc.
(Actually, whoever is responsible for this can count themselves in good company. I read somewhere that Leon Uris -- and his editors -- misspelled sergeant 108 times in his bestseller "Battle Cry".)

Re: OT - Forum Decorum
suicide_junkie, you sometimes post a message with a single word, BUMP. Please, can you tell me what does it mean?

Re: OT - Forum Decorum
He does that to bump the thread back up to the top so that it doesn't get lost in the mass of old topics no-one looks at anymore. He does it to keep the discussion going, to keep the thread alive.
PS I know I'm not SJ, but hey, I knew the answer, and I'm sure he won't mind!

Re: OT - Forum Decorum
Do I really bump that much more than other people around here?
I really can't remember the Last time I did...
...A search tells me I've only used the word bump in five threads, not nessesarily as a "bump", either.

Thank you for your answers, I'm learning...

Not really, but every time I see it I cannot understand anything and that annoys me because I'm usually very interested in the discussion
I mentioned your name because the first time I saw it was in one of your Posts a while ago, and I spent some time trying to imaginate an English phrase that could match that four characters (B.U.M.P.) and with some sense (Expressions, components, strategies even PBW games)
Of course, I couldn't
