we dutchies where great shipbuilders around that time and we made sure not to let em sink in the harbour as far as I know
the ship ur reffering to (I think) is the Vasa: or an English ship a few years earlier... but the idea is the same:

The Vasa sank within one nautical mile of the start of her maiden voyage in 1628 before she even left the Stockholm archipelago There was a sudden squall, her gun ports were still open and when she listed heavily to port, the gun ports sank below water level and water gushed in. bye bye man-O-war

 | True. However, while I couldn't remember the name of the ship, I wasn't trying to. My thought processes went something like 'Hey, how about I change 'island' to 'ship'?'

Re: Bad Names For Your Ships
On a related subject, I used to have a gameboy sub game where you could name your Sub. My was the US Sub Standard.
 Worst name for a ship:

HMS. Invincible, as this name alone will result in the immediate and, often, pathetically stupid destruction of any ship.

 - SS. Can't Hit Me
 - USS. Essess
 - Sinker
 - Flounder
 - Derelict
 - Dereliction of Duty
 - SS. Oceanus (a Passenger liner that went down in 1991 and the crew all bailed and left the passengers behind. Note the captain was given a new command a few weeks laters of a Ferry).
 - Any ramming ship named "dodge" or "jumper"
 - Any tanker or highly-flammable ship named after a living, ruling emperor.
