Re: Are you tough enough to be the "King of the Hill"?
I think I might (note: not absolute, as in still under consideration) withdraw from KOTH after this current game I am in, win or lose. This just isn't as fun as I had thought it would be. There are a few things that are horribly horribly broken in SE4 (such as intel), and I seriously doubt Geo would consider removing them from future games, as it would remove potential (cheap) strategies from being able to be used. I really do not want to play in any games where these things are possibilities any more, as they make the game less than fun. It is not that I can not deal with them, it is that I do not want to deal with them any more.

Re: Are you tough enough to be the "King of the Hill"?
Fyron, why drop out? Just ask your opponent if they want to play without intel. The KOTH rules allow for custom settings and mods.
A note to anyone who gets assigned to play me: The first thing I do is e-mail you to see if you want to change the settings. If you want a ten sphereworld, high tech, and 5000 racial point game or a one poor planet, low tech, 0 racial point, finite resources game, I'm the guy to try it out with. I may have lost all three of the games I've played but I've had a great time playing and I can't thank Geo enough for implimenting this format!

Re: Are you tough enough to be the "King of the Hill"?
Well, I don't want to turn this into a thread about the plusses or minuses of intel. The problems with the system are well documented. Personally I think it's part of the game. But as Nodachi says if you don't like it you can try to get some agreement from you opponent not to use it. If you can't though I don't forsee removing intel from by default. So if you are going to be part of KOTH it's something that might come up from time to time. It's all part of being a well rounded galactic Emperor.

Well... since you have asked...
I think we have met on turn 14 or so, with good opportunity for us to expand. It is quite obvious that we started on opposite sides of the quadrant. We have met roughly in the middle and established 3 choke points. I think I have managed to procure more systems, but that does not really mean much.
By the way, Geo, I think I like this map a bit better... sure is different.
It is now turn 27 and we will see some fleet bashing very soon... Looks like Preacherman is putting some of his buildup to use.
Darn, this one is tense.

Re: Are you tough enough to be the "King of the Hill"?
Ok, some update of the KOTH game Dreiko vs. sparhawk.
After some Last battles dreiko gave up. and declared me winner of the game.
It was really a good game and I probaly because, I was mining every system that I crossed with my ships.
But I'm ready to go to war ones again.
