Ettins are the most maligned of all the Endgame Diversity summons - people almost always say they are hopelessly weak and there is no point in summoning them, which is why they have ended up being so cheap. So I am pleased if someone has found a way to make them effective.

I'm sure that doesn't make you feel better about fighting them though - fully and cunningly equipped, it certainly sounds like they are very tough opponents. On the plus side, think how much it must have cost your opponent to forge all their gear. Fully equipping an ettin must cost a lot of gems.

If you want to deal with those Ettins...if they're not shock immune then something like Orb Lightning will still do terrible things to them. Also a few mages spamming Fireball will fell them relatively quickly from the fatigue alone. Some blockers and then a handful of guys with Heroic Blades would do nicely as well.

Notice that all these options take far fewer gems than the actual Ettins.

Yeah, no fire or lightning resistance and sub-20mr leaves plenty of opportunities for kiling those ettins you're facing. They may look scary, but there's immediately a bunch of counters available. Ettins really feel like midgame SCs, where they can be very scary and a given opponent may not have a sufficient amount of research to attack all of its vulnerabilities, and its sheerk killing power can be used to greatest effect. So I don't think it's too bad where ettins are right now really, as it seems to be pretty much appropriate.

As said, they have quite a few vulnerabilities, and a big portion of SC cost comes from hammerless forging nowadays, and a fully equipped Ettin is actually pretty expensive (~50 gems in equipment). A similar level of expenditure on say treant (~30 gems in eq only) or Grendelkin (~50 gems in eq) will yield a generally superior SC, though it's good that they are somewhat differentiated and each have different pros and cons they bring to the table (ex. Early access for Ettin as mentioned).

Previously Ettin cost more and had 0 resist, it now comes with 3x 50% resist and is actually usable.

I've fought a few equipped Ettins in 1.83 and they are like most other SC chasis, with quite a few weakness for players to take advantage of.

Depending on your national path, research and their Ettin equip (vulnerability) there's many things you can do, a few of which were offered here, if you need more I'm sure we'll jump on it with more solutions.
