Sheesh. How crowded can one little isthmus be? I can see me, Ermor, Abysia, Fomoria, and now TC is knocking practically right on my door. I'm afraid this game has a really bad case of unequal start positions. *Someone* must have a bunch of room to expand - and they are the odds-on favorite to win the game. Kind of sad to know this already by turn 8.

There are two lucky guys among us: Ulm & Mictlan. Ulm may just see TC now; Mictlan even doesn't see anyone else...

Turn timing:
Arco's turn has been resent.
everz requested a delay Friday evening from 9pm to 11pm. As I am an early morning person, I may not run the turn before Saturday morning.
If the Friday hosting is done Saturday, I'll probably relax the Saturday deadline and slide into Sunday. On the other hand, if everyone makes it anyway, I will probably host.

Turn Return
Interesting. The original turn showed up at 3:48a...I'll blame my ISP. They are HIGHLY blameable.
Turn 9 played and the .2h sent back.
A delay for the next turn is fine, but I know that the Arco turn will be in before 10p Sat night!
Now, is there any way to guarantee a GOOD event? So far I've been slammed by bad luck...and no luck scales, good or bad, are present in my provinces.

crowds
Having taken a close look at the map, and integrated what people have reported here with my own observations...holy cow, that is an uneven distribution of territory! Ulm and Mictlan must feel like the Americas before the Europeans over there.
Contrariwise, this is a victory point game, and there are more VPs where there are more nations. So you can think of that as an advantage, if you like.
Fortunately, there is a simple answer to the crowding issue, which is to exterminate your neighbors. I encourage everyone to get on with it!

With my luck Ulm and Mictlan will have a short war of extermination and I'll be staring at a post WWII U.S.A. I, on the other hand, plan to win this game by buying victory points from the other nations with pretty gems and lots of love slaves.

double digits
Turn 10 has gone out.
Official deadline for next turn: 9pm Sunday
Unofficial deadline: if all turns are in by Saturday evening, I will host on the original schedule. No pressure, though. Due to general crowding of the map, I understand if you want the full 24 hrs for your turn.
Future schedule: we will be in 3 turn/week mode by the holidays (Tues/Thurs/Sun). Please post here regarding how much we need to slow down or pause.

public apology
It's time for me to admit some of my own stupidity here...
(Let me throw in some icons so Pasha will understand: )
It has just been pointed out to me by one of the players that Fomoria actually has 2 VP in its capital. I honestly did not even notice it--the graphics on the map are pretty close together, and I didn't think it was even possibly under these victory settings. If I had noticed on turn one, I would have offered to restart the game.
Can't do that now, though, and I hope no one feels cheated. All I can do is make sure everyone knows it, so people know that Fomoria is twice as valuable a target now.
I invite further comments on the issue if it bothers anyone.
