Could we restart? The Atlantis and R'lyeh capitals are next to each other.

If this is the case we really should.

However, there might be a problem: the map has fixed starts for 10 (non-water) so R'lyeh WILL appear randomly close some1. How close, I dont know. We could ask Calahan mod us a map with fixed starts for 10+1? (I think this current map's fixed starts were his handwriting already...?)

I thought there was a 10+1 Rusty Nails map on the llamaserver, as I uploaded it for a game around ~18 months ago. But having just looked for it I can't seem to find it in the map list. Odd. (I might have named the map after the name of the game. Need to find the game I used it for)

I can upload this 10+1 Rusty Nails map for you if you want me to (fairly sure I still have it), or I can post the files here for you to do it. All depends if you have VP marked capitals or not, as if you do I'll just post the files since no point keeping start locations secret if they're marked anyway. But if capitals are not VP marked then if I upload the map the capitals will have to be found in-game. In which case I'll just post the image file rather than the image and .map file. (although I'll check first before posting the image file, as it might be exactly the same one you have already meaning you don't need to download a new one)

Rusty Nails is a tight map for a water nation though, so the best you will get is R'yleh's cap being one province away from a land nations (so X-1-Y). Which of course is better than directly adjacent, but it's impossible to get more distance than that as some land nations need to start on the coast line otherwise the land nations start becoming too close (space for capital placement on a wraparound is always harder to find than a non-wrap), and maps without coast starts will mess up for some games if certain nations are present.

Let me know.

I've just taken a look at the map and it looks like the Water nation will only have 10 provinces connected to his start location. As the two provinces at 56+64 are not connected to the main area of water.

Some options are...

1 - Use the map anyway.
2 - Find another map.
3 - Connect the two isolated water provinces to the main water provinces. If you go for this option then...
3a - Ignore the fact the map image will not make sense (as there are no rivers connecting the two provinces you will be joining up)
3b - Edit the image to add rivers to show the new connections.
4 - Find another land player and switch to either GreeceStain or Realm of Rhinos map (which are a better fit for a Water nation IMO. I have versions of both these maps for 11+1)
5 - Something else I haven't thought of.

I'm happy to help with any of the above, and can probably do any of them more or less straight away. Apart from that is 3b as that will take me a bit of time. Time which I'm unlikely to have until late on Sunday (I have zero talent when it comes to using image editing programs so quick image edits always take me more time than it should.)

Guys, how about Rhinos?

As Calahan said, we should get one more and Soyweiser expressed his interest before in joining us b/c it's his Zombies! -mod we are using?

So I ask him again and we use larger map (Rhinos)?
Or?
R'lyeh, what you say?

If you end up going for Rhinos, and in case I'm not around much tomorrow, the 11 Land + 1 Water version I've done of that map is already on the llamaserver (it's currently 5 from bottom at time of writing), and here is the download link to the image you will need. (as I've made some changes to the original image)

http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showpost.php?p=804192

Not sure if it's 100% bug free as it's still very early in its first MP game right now. No bugs reported so far though. The map is based on the 'fixed' version of the Rhinos map, so hopefully there are no bugs left in it. I checked all the connections and they all seem as they should be, so if any errors are there then they are likely to be missing terrain tags. Although certainly not impossible for a connection error to have crept through the net, but I hope not.
