You guys are just using markata PD wrong. I find I can easily defeat remote ghoul attacks if you just have your pretender drop Armies of Gold and Fog Warriors. If you add in some thugs and a seraph for Will of the Fates, they can usually handle Call of the Winds too.
Yeah, let us suppose its a very foggy day, and the ghouls in fact killed each others, the last one of them making some deadly fall, stepping over the bodies of its fallen comrades.

How are you supposed to get that early game? A much better tactic is to teleport in shrouded D9 blessed casters to hit the enemy before they move in, dropping doom on them for mass curse then bloodletting and other mass low damage spells, before making a kamikaze attack to set off their Medallion of Vengenace.
Let's see how your opponent deals with 'useless' monkey pd when all their units have 10 afflictions each.
