Pretenders are more nation-spesific. You won't see Son of Niefel for Caelum. Instead, they have Father of Winters.

Re: Screenies!
The similiarity is striking.
But who is he?

The picture's URL is:
http://pohanstvi.net/slavia/svarog.jpg
Searching after Svarog, I found this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Svarog
He is a fire-god, or in even older legends, smith-god. The picture fits, but myth not.
Google produces some scary results, though, so make sure you aren't using the "I'm Feeling Lucky" option. Really! I mean it!

Re: Screenies!
Hopefuly not the kind of scary results you'd get by searching for Dwarf Fortress' favorite food - Plump Helmet.
(I didn't search for it myself, but saw the warning against it in the DF forums)

Re: Screenies!
A slavonic diety. I'm not sure if the original painting was a representation of Svarog though. I got enamoured with it and couldn't resist remaking him into a pretender. Until I manage to finish a Slavonic nation he appears as a pretender for Caelum and Ulm and perhaps some others.
Some other pretenders are remade statues of antiquity. I would guess Svarog and Sarapis (Lord of Rebirth, one of my favourite gods. I once made an essay on Isis and Sarapis in the roman empire) are the pretenders most like the originals.

Re: Screenies!
Endoperez, thanks for this Herculean undertaking to whet our appetites with pictures for Dominions 3. I've been enjoying it a great deal!

Actually you know one nation I would like to make. I have more, about five or ten quite clearly defined and about as many diffuse ones. Slavonic nation is currently in the latter category, but that might change. I intend to get myself an Encyclopedia of Religion. 11.000 pages / 84 lbs of religious entries . IIRC there are several good entries on slavonic religion there for some inspiration. I havn't used it since I studied and I believe I would have to go to Lund (university city near Malmö) to get acess to it. Much better to have it in your own home . I once used some of the slavonic entries in an Ars Magica campaign with a story set in Riga.
