Re: PBW RACE TO SEV TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS
Ok, is there a big enough interest in this from people with no credit cards that I should get another PO Box? They opened up a new post office branch right next to my work. The main reason I dropped the other one was that I moved and it was a hassle to go over there and check it. But if there are people wanting to join up, and send donations in general, I can get a new one.

Given the response to your question and the (somewhat) lack of responses to the tourney in general, I'd say don't bother.
As to the PO box, if Simon is going to take it over, then (perhaps), he should be the one to decide on getting a PO box (for the tourney AND future donations). Just a thought (there goes my big mouth again ).
As to the tourney, it seems to be languishing a bit as the initial rush was encouraging but the dropoff is indicatory of (perhaps) not enough interest. Perhaps some sort of query should be done...a poll (visions of "Poll Boy" appear ) to get a firm feel for interest.
What ya think?

Re: PBW RACE TO SEV TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS
There is no lack of interest. In fact interest is high for this event. I mean who wouldn't want to be in the 1st Tournament of Champions? This is a no brainer, everyone should join and play. The prizes are very good ones for this event and frankly if you don't sign up and play your will be missing out on a great experience.
If you value the $ look at all the time and effort that has gone into setting up this event and the cash value of the prizes. Not to mention a chance at becoming a beta tester for SE V. Hell that alone should be enough to cause a storming of the sign up gates.
So if you have not yet signed up, please do so, you will enjoy it even if you don't place.
Hell for the price of a pair of tickets to a movie you can't go wrong.

LOL, you know, fewer people means that your chances of winning a beta slot are just that much greater. Plus there are several copies of se5 to be given away. (more than your entry fee value there.) Plus three shipsets made by Atrocities, who worked his tail off and produced some of his finest work to date. You modders should be drooling at the thought of having your own custom shipset to use in your mods. There are also some splash screens (aka Desktop Wallpaper) to be had and won. (maybe not worth $20 but at least you won't go home empty handed.) there are also some gift certificates that basically refund your entry fee.
Yes a LOT of work went into the planning of this tournament, and the prizes are nothing to scoff at. But the real value is in the pure 'FUN' that you will have playing a game that we all love.
What we need to do is swarm other gamming forums and make Posts in their forums and spread the word.. "Win a slot in the Space Empires 5 BETA. Join the 'Tournament of Champions' now." etc, etc, etc..
Basically the word about the tournament needs to be spread. This is not the type of thing we want to keep as our own private secret.
Anyway, don't walk, RUN! and sign up Today!
Cheers!

Re: PBW RACE TO SEV TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS
I really want to play this one, but my biggest problem is to get the 20$ in the US (I will not/never use paypall)
And my second problem is the starting date, I will be back from holiday the 16th of august. So if (ONLY) the first turn is ALPU there is NO problem and I could join. (but I will not play/pay if I know for certain that I will mis the first turn.
So if anybody have some answers for me (Tesco) let me know and count me in !!

Re: PBW RACE TO SEV TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS
alarikf
yes
send me an email to seiv at tescosamoa com
Intimidator.
Good news... You will have time to submit your first turn... You have 2 advantages. 1 your 6 hours ahead of me so it will not start until the 16th for you and you will have the allocated time to do your turn.
David G and At... Great answers. Lots of love for the se community went into this tourny. Even if you can only play for a little while due to commitments. It would be well worth it as most of the prizes are random anyways. And it is a great way to support PBW and the upcoming SEV universe.
We could even look at a 5 planet start to really speed up the games....
Kana we now have 6 players signed up.
And yes your right with the fact that the tourney is not well known yet.
Slynky.... have some faith... and post it on your site... Tell your friends
Mac Thanks
Asmala... We can figure it out for you my friend... Send me a PM...
Lord Q Dann... its less addictive than a girl and will not hurt your grades welll maybe not...

Re: PBW RACE TO SEV TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS
Well, I'm in, as I said before (though my name wasn't listed ).
I surely didn't mean to cast any doubt on the Tourney by my (perhaps) pessimestic observations. I guess I judged it by the kind of reaction that Geo usually gets when he Posts an idea for a tourney .
Tesco, you have a PM (in a sec... ).

I intend to play but have not yet signed on and paid up - waiting for the Aussie dollar to get even better...
As for a five planet start, that is fine but - are you going to ban the Talisman (pleeeaaassseeee - pleading tone!)? On a 3 planet start you can have it by turn 40 with ease (and have LCs, guns, PD, shields, etc). And with mines, missile ships and boarding parties it is possible to defend yourself till then. With 5 planets I guess by turn 30? (haven't tried it yet).
Lets ban the talisman and make the tourney one that tests overall game play, not just can you survive till T-Turn?
