IT seems that fri-sat is definitely out as things do depend on Fyron.

I could run a perpetual server if need be... Not sure how stable OpenRPG is in this regard, but it is worth a shot.

I imagine starting earlier to accomodate Null is impossible.

You tend to be sleeping any earlier than we start, so it doesn't seem feasible.

Randallw said:
I don't have any experience with Monks, but I gather it would end up like Fyrons Thri-Keen who unleashes flurries with 4 arms that chew up opponents.

Monks are even worse because they have ungodly magic defenses in addition to powerful attacks. My thri-kreen should collapse quite nicely when/if we encounter some powerful spell casters. That is, assuming that Douglas doesn't get to them first...

The main reason I made the thri-kreen fighter was because our party had lost all melee combat characters. I had forgotten about the whole 4 arm thing when I started making it... oh well.

Randallw said:
The party does really require some clerical help. Fyron, you say Fri-Sat is out, but what other days are good?

For the next few weeks, Monday-Thursday at the time we do now or later is perfectly ok. Well, the 12th (a Monday) and 13th (a Tuesday) will not be possible due to other engagements, but other Mondays and Tuesdays are fine.

Before I go out, are we going to delay the next session till everyone can join, or go on tomorrow regardless?

I do not think we should lose any momentum and that we should keep going.

It doesn't need to be perpeptual - I host the server for Narf's Loony game; I turned the server into a schedualed task, complete with command-line parameters to set the name for the server:

C:\UTILS\PYTHON23\python.exe C:\Games\OpenRPG\start_server.py -p -n Loony -l XXXXX

It's been a while since I set it up, so I don't recall what the -p is for, but the -n is the name flag, so my server's always called Loony; the -l tag sets the root password for the lobby (note that I do not use five X's - that's a replacement)

You can schedual the server as a task, set the computer on standby (also set the task for "wake the computer to perform this task", of course), and walk away - unless something goes wrong (which is unlikely, if you make sure to reboot the computer before putting it to sleep and walking away) it will be up and running for the game.

You may also wish to tweak a few system settings to make sure your computer doesn't go back to sleep while the game is running (or waiting to start).

This of course assumes that you can leave the machine asleep and not have to worry about others coming along and using it while you aren't present.

I've actually deleted the task scheduler on my Windows PC... Running a dedicated server on my Linux PC is not a problem.

Mondays through thusdays are out for me, because I have so much to do then. Lots of school, tae kwon doe, virtual class...

I say leave it on 24/7. It should be fairly stable, I guess, since other servers are left on 24/7. We can also hi-jack an official server for roleplaying, and forgo the need for a server.

Now then... On to tweak my cleric some more...

I am sorry to have to do this, and I am posting at 6am so I don't leave it till the last minute to make sure, but I woke up an hour ago with a sore gagging throat, blocked sinuses and a runny nose. Now I can't get back to sleep (cause getting up to use the computer won't help ) Null_Ashton has contacted me to say could I change it to Friday. I might be able to, but it would require me getting up a few hours early, which might be possible, however this would require my being woken up as I sleep heavily (When I'm not sick ) and no one else here really gets up before 8.30 (I think. I usually never get up that early to be sure). I could give it a go, though I risk sleeping in.
