Over in the General forum, Shovah volunteered to take over Machaka. I don't suppose Arralen left his password with any 3rd party, though.

There is always the Master Password, a wonderful word of power that unlocks all doors. It is currently in the hands of the most honourable chancellor - that is, myself.

But the MP is a word of great temptation as well - I hate to think of it being given to a player, as they can then look at all nations turns. (Possibly not so big a deal with pbem, not having access to all turn files.)

Yup, any player with the Master Password should not get any other .trn file. A slightly more drastic approach would be to systematically send individual mails to all players, so that nobody has access to any other .trn file (that would prevent a "hey nice replacing player, care to tell me that Master Password?" situation). So long as it *isn't* TCP/IP, the Master Password can be used to "recover" lost problems; in TCP/IP, it won't do much good, unless TCP/IP servers create logs somewhere.
There should be other ways to work around the problem (getting the files from FTP/HTTP, say), but the basic principle remains the same. Not that it will be necessary this time around.

Re: Please hold the game, seek replacement (Turn 5
At a week from the last turn, it seems shovah isn't taking Machaka over. There's a limit to how long a game can be kept on hiatus and still have all the players around and interested, so it seems like something ought to be decided.

Re: Please hold the game, seek replacement (Turn 5
He has taken over.
Just heard from him 1.5 hours ago that he finally got the unzipping of the files to work ok.
Guess he's reading the messages and notes now and looking into the turn.
So the game should go on within short time.
See you, folks, and have fun !

Send the ".2h" file - easy way to remember it, is that it stands for what you send "to host".
