Re: OT: The House of 1001+ Avatars
Yeah, there really isn't much room for details like that.
How about a warppoint shaped medal for the exploration then, instead of the Eye? Maybe an eye in a warppoint?

Re: OT: The House of 1001+ Avatars
SJ, how's this... (I call it the 'Waypoint Star-Cluster')

Cheers!
Edit:..one more (possibly final) batch of medals,.. (including a better 'purple heart', bronze star, something for clolonization, plus...)

1048968933.gif
1048968945.gif

So, SJ, think you have enough to play with now?
Cheers!
P.S. That was fun!

Re: OT: The House of 1001+ Avatars
..I built myself a simple little medal case to hold all the medals. (and it gives you the chance to see them all without scrolling down the thread!)
Cheers!

That is awesome
The hard part will be coming up with names for them that are worthy of the picture!

Re: OT: The House of 1001+ Avatars
I'd like to place an order for one display case full, for my office wall.
Those look really great. I don't know if we'll have enough awards to use them all!

Re: OT: The House of 1001+ Avatars
I know, I know, David doesn't hand-draw these medals... but can't avoid to feel myself amazed looking his work. And much more, if remember my own skills using any kind of software to do images...

I don't know what you mean by not hand drawn, unlike my avatars which are mostly (but not all) images that I found, reduced, framed and polished, these medals were ALL drawn from scratch. Pixel by pixel one by one, Of course once I had a few bases to work with I did do some cut&paste and recoloring. but all in all, these were not taken from pictures. They all came straight from my head. (There is 2 exceptions, the waypoint medal has an actual waypoint image reduced to fit in the medal and the colonization has a reduced planet which I created long ago in pov-ray!)
Now you have th poop the whole poop and nothing but the poop!
Cheers!
P.S. the proof is in the pudding,.. here is a sample of one of my workscreens (Highly compressed jpeg image not meant for quality, just a visual reference!)..

I don't wanted to say that you got it from the web (or something like that!)... just that you used a software tool instead pencil and paper!
Again, want to say that your work is AMAZING! Can't avoid it, when know someone that have the "touch" for the art.
I have a friend that he's GREAT using the CorelDraw (and other software), and using the same software tools... I can't draw ANYTHING!
An example of his work: 1049035676.jpg
(By the way, know you someone that could give him a job????)
