Re: MP Game - Faerun Pirates
Additionally, while it might be cheesy to swipe the province income with a scout, Linglich is somewhat justified in using it, because I [censored] up the start location when making the map and he has no expansion options. Four neighbors to begin with, two of which are special SC provinces, are not exactly a recipe for a good starting position.

I understand Lingchih is in a difficult position here, so making an exception in his case seems quite reasonable. Lingchih, if it's any consolation, at least you get the consolation that the map creator himself chose a weak position himself to play (weak in the sense of having a lousy map position, not the nation itself). And that even after I warned him!

Re: MP Game - Faerun Pirates
Thanks very much for the explanations. I may use the scout cheat, since everyone seems to think it justified in my case. My resources and money are very limited right now, and I have some big armies coming my way. If anyone does not want me to use it, please post here and I will refrain.

Re: MP Game - Faerun Pirates
Sorry to be so green at this, but I am. Do I just send a scout into the City of Shadows? Do I need to attack after I send him in? I tried several single player games to try to practice this, but the Faerun map I have on my hard drive does not generate the fortresses.

The quickest way is to just move the scout in, rather than sneak into the province (you can ctrl-left click on the province when you move to override the default of sneaking).
It doesn't need to be a scout - any cheap and handy unit will do. The essence of the trick is that when putting castles on maps, there's no way to setup the map so that the troops in the province either patrol, or break siege, the way a player would. So no matter how wimpy your attacking force, you can know that you'll be able to take the province, and its gold income, without fighting the indy force inside.

Yeah, you warned me, but how well do you think I could have fixed the particular problems with Vanheim's start position if I hadn't ignored your warning? You see, one of the problems with the Faerun map (both Versions) is that I have not playtested it. I've fiddled around with a couple of nations, but done no real playtesting, which is required to find the kind of problems it had. Now that I've added the borders, a large number of them became visible, and have been settled.
I'll have the fixed maps available at the end of the week or the beginning of next week.

Yes, looks to me like the web front end for mosehansen has gone down. However, all the games (at least that I'm in), are still up an running as I can still connect w/ the Dom2 client.

Re: MP Game - Faerun Pirates
Any chance we could change to 48H hosting? I feel I have to rush my turns a bit to keep the pace...
Edit: Btw, I am playing Machaka (Wintermute on Moses).

Re: MP Game - Faerun Pirates
I wouldn't mind 48 (or 48 QH) myself.
