Help with a map-editing crash
I have made a map, saved it in .tga, fixed all the small white dots that creates provinces, done everything. It loads fine in Dominions map editor, I start to put neighbors to all the provinces. But, as soon as I try to save the map, dominions 3 crashes. Just straight out to desktop. The map is rather big, saved in millions of colors and with dimensions that I haven't really bothered looking at. Around 180 provinces.
What could cause this? Any help is appreciated, does the image have to be in certain dimensions? Only use certain colors?

Re: Help with a map-editing crash
There was some limit to the dimensions. Check the Dom3 Faerun 466 and Oeridia maps, those still load in the editor with no problems, but I wouldn't try anything bigger. Can't give you any better advice.

Re: Help with a map-editing crash
If it loads in the editor then the graphic image cant be a problem on saving it. It would need to be the .map file which is all text. I dont know what would affect that. Out of space on the harddrive?
Its kindof picky about the filename. What are you saving it as.

Re: Help with a map-editing crash
Exalted is the name I'm saving it as.
exalted.tga is the image file, and yep, it loads fine in the editor, so I assumed it wasn't something with the image either. But you can never be too sure..
I did not finish all the neighbors, maybe it crashes if some provinces are without neighbors? Are there some command that causes it to crash? I did randomize all province names, as well as put in a few "This province is a no-start one"
Maybe it could be a memory error when it tries to save it, somehow? My HD has 10 gigs, so that should be fine, free space that is.

Re: Help with a map-editing crash
I think you have to save it as exalted.map (in case you arent providing the extension). Of course if THAT is the crash then we need to jab Johan about it. Another case of "could you either default it or check it for errors rather than crash, clease"

Re: Help with a map-editing crash
I'm going to try editing on my PC, to see if it's some coding error in the map editor, or something like that

Re: Help with a map-editing crash
It should not be necessary to add the .map into the file name when saving the map file. I certainly didn't with the Faerun map and it never gave me any problems.
