Fall from heaven II.
Forget about civ V, elemental etc.
The realy HOT thing in fantasy/strattegy gaming this year is that Fall from heaven 2 will be released as a stand alone game...

Oh wow, that's an interesting development. It's certainly well-deserved.

Re: Fall from heaven II.
Its a fun mod for Civ 4 but the AI is retarded.(although at least it has learned to blob up properly in the last few patches) that said it does not have the breadth of depth of Dominions

Re: Fall from heaven II.
As a mod it was certainly more limited in terms of bugdget, resources and technical capabilities, than a full game will be.
At least, I hope so.

Re: Fall from heaven II.
I would certainly think they will use the Civ 5 engine, thus we will get a "Fantasy General" crossed with MoM. Groovy.

Re: Fall from heaven II.
I like FFH 2. I hope they're include some of the best "modmods" out there, though. There's one (I can't recall the name offhand) that adds a spider kingdom and two lizardfolk Nations, as well as some other intriguing goodies. Not a completed, working project, but releasing FFH as a standalone would hopefully provide the necessary resources to bring in some of the really interesting, but currently marginal, projects.

Fall Further is the mod you are looking for or possibly Orbis which both (imo) improve the basic mod greatly though at the expense of the AI. But then again when it comes to poor AI nothing can quite match Dom3.

If you're looking for better AI I think you should look at Sephi's Wildmana. I haven't tried it personally, but as I understand one of the main aspects of that modmod is to improve AI.

Re: Fall from heaven II.
I'm (sadly) aware of the AI issues.
Well, when it comes to that, it would be my hope that an official release would incorporate a decent AI across the board. Firaxis tends to be pretty good at AI (admittedly, of the cheating bastard variety).
Fall Further is the main one I was talking about, but there's several of them with good ideas/good work out there.
The nicest thing about FFH2 is how individual each Nation is/plays. The story's unique, as well, and the tools Civ4 puts at the modders' disposal are used to their full potential power. It's really a magnificent effort, and a crystal-clear vision of the future of games and modding.

Re: Fall from heaven II.
I'm definitely hooked on FFH2. I've been playing it almost exclusively of getting my final dom turns in. It has some bugs though... Choose Liberty, and you are stuck with it. Get the Mercurians, and you are unbeatable. Yet to do an MP game with it though. Just pointing out the SP bugs.
