Default Using extra gems to reduce fatigue

Okay, thanks very much for checking! And sorry for the misinformation.

Out of curiosity, what was the spell (and caster) where >1 extra gems were used? If an S5 caster (well, S4 boosted by a banner) carried 10 pearls, could he cast Solar Brilliance without getting super-fatigued?

I used an S6 starspawn to cast Will of the Fates (S4, 400 fatigue) and he burned 6 gems and landed at 82 fatigue in a neutral magic scale prov. 2 from his encumberance, so 80 from the spell. 80 is 1/5th of 400, so he cast it at an effective level of S8, so one level per extra pearl for fatigue purposes.

In the SC Arena Contest my mechanical man can be seen spending 3 gems for wrath of ancestors, which only requires 1 gem.

Thanks!

So, maybe commanders can potentially use as many gems as they have levels, plus one? Or, I wonder if an S5 caster could use 7 pearls to cast Will of the Fates.

No, commanders can never use more gems than their level.
