Any good races...
that use crystallurgy, without anything else? because all the 'elite' (read - most of the AI in my folders, namely TDM) are either organic, religious or psychic - or, more commonly, combos of these. not a single crystallurgy race i can think of. anyone?

Re: Any good races...
The tesselate use Crystallurgy, and they have one of the best AIs in existence.

Re: Any good races...
That is because in general, Crystallurgy is very underpowered. Yes, you can make tough BBs and DNs with Crystalline Armor, but a few Shield Disruptors take care of that problem really quickly.

Re: Any good races...
I wouldn't say they are elite but the Tylmai are crystallurgy. It's an ok AI if you give them bonuses and in late game they know how to be sneaky
Oleg's Tholians are a tough challenge, very good AI, well against me anyway It's a modified Version of the Tylmai, or at least i think as the games i've played in it's been superior to them.
Lastly Andres Lescano's Y'Gathian Free States are a very good race too, even with no bonuses they practically overwhelm you with well designed ships, they also have the organic manipulations tech tree as well so they might not be what you're after!
Hope this helps

Re: Any good races...
okies thanks, those races i dont have in my folders - except for the Y'gath, whom, frankly, i havent noticed to be TOO great but yes they're good. thanks people.
fyron, and again i tell you, its not underpowered! its just not a replacer to the original tech tree (as most others are) but a nasty addition!

Re: Any good races...
I think it also may be because we don't get crystalurgy. Organics, psychics and religious races are easy to envision, but a giant flying space chrystal is a giant flying space chrystal. I do have an Idea though, and I hope to implement it soon.....

Re: Any good races...
Currently, I don't consider the Cristallurgy so weak (although is very expensive to research).
More considering that I have "discovered" doing the Tessellate, that a Base Ship with many Cristalline Armors is very powerful and cheap to build.

Re: Any good races...
MB your partly right, and then again i see Crystallurgy as this little late-game advantage that can bring you victory. Cheap armour, both one-of-the-best long-range weapons in the game and the one-of-kind armor-skipping weapon. Plus the facilities. Realize Crystallurgy has too many unique abilities in it it does not however replace the other technologies as organic or others do, it simply enriches your tactical arsenal. And with DNM's crystalline torpedoes.... :big evil grin:

Re: Any good races...
